i cant beleive people make fun of this gfix card!

my system=

motherboard= idk

CPU= E6300

Ram= 2 512 mb ddr2 (1 gb)

GPu= evga e-geforce 8600 gt

Game testing= elder scrolls 4 oblivion

i got this card expecting medium game performance and man let me just say its justnot the case, im playing elder scrolls oblivion with the highest settings possible and im getting great FPSs 27- 72 FPS the regular fps was 49 in. while incombat it was around 30ish. though i did have lag when first getting into the game.thats on the highest settings!! ( with hdr lighting) ( which means no AA) anyway im versy satisfied) and for people who say the 7600 is better than the 8600 gt, i'm afraid you are wrong.

The 7600 is not better then the 8600, of course not. However, you would have been better off buying a 7800 over an 8600.

Don't worry about it though. This is the internet, and when it comes to PC hardware discussions, people like to pull out their epeens and show their friends. It's kinda emosexual, but what are you gonna do?

edit: I do have some great news for you tho. You are lucky you have an Evga card, because they have this thing called the 'stepup program' which allows you to trade in you video card within 90 days of purchase and upgrade to a better one. You pay the difference in price. However, guess what? They price you video card based on how much you initially paid for it and compare it to the current price of what you are upgrading to.

So if you paid $200 for your card, and the 8800gt costs $250 in 2 months... you only pay $50 to upgrade! I am personally going to be doing that with my two 8800gts in 2 months time ;) Gonna upgrade these bad boys to the Ultras me thinks ;P

This.

And the main problem wiht the 8600 is its price. You can get the same performance with the high-end GeForce 7s for much cheaper. Admittedly without the DX10 support, but the 8600 will likely take a big performance hit trying to run DX10, so there isn't much of a reason to buy it for DX10.

Submit it in before the 90 days is up, and have the invoice/reciept. Also, you want to have all the cables/cds/box cause they might charge for for losing stuff. Other then that, as long as it's not broken.

Hate? First time I hear about videocard "hate." A card is mediocre, bad, horrible, or amazing based on cold hard facts. Theres no denying that you can get a better card for the money then the 8600gt.

I don't think it's a bad card at all, I can run every single one of my games on high, I got mine for $130 so I think it was a good deal, I will be getting an 8800 or HD2900 sometime, but not anytime soon

It's not much better then a 7600gt except that it is DX10 enabled.

And you're either full of crap or you are playing on a 15" screen. I trustprofessional benchmarks over yours and according to them an 8600 will not run Oblivion maxed out with fps like that...

With $100 you'll get more performence out of ATI then NVIDIA. Same with$200, $300, and even$400...

Driver quality may be slightly lower butin general when it comes down to performance/price ATI clearly wins, get thatin your head.

ever since i know video cards good on results Nvidia releasing video cards, after that ATI releasing their video cards after month~ and it's barely can keep up with Nvidia on the results you can see that, or ATI is releasing video cards and after 2 weeks-month Nvidia releasing their video cards that tramples ATIs' video cards - Nvidia always rule the market and hopefully they always will

I don't know. My old rig had Dual Radeon X1950XTX cards and they were quite nice.
