alright my dad sits on this pc u see he starts downloading you know the usual symphonies and stuff and books and java stuff i don't know and he gets a virus i realized that just when i sat on the pc and it restarted by itself i have vista 32 bit ultimate and whenever i use the pc the theme starts changing aero to basic and then to aero my avg 8.0 caught it at first after scanning but the pc restarted before finishing the scan the next time i tried it didn't find it the files were d.exe and b.exe and avg called it win 32 crypt but the research i have done says otherwise every few seconds i get a microsoft windows error saying superfetch stopped working i have encountered this virus once on xp before and i was forced to format can anyone tell me if they know a quick manual way to fix this cause i've lost my faith in antiviruses.

i know it gets annoying when people say this, but download a real virus protection. avast home edition free does the job. it looks cool too. it has real time protection which scans each website before it is shown on your computer which doesnt effect the speed. but try it, the first time you download it it will ask you for a reboot, which is normal, but before starting windows, it gives it a hardcore scan which takes around 3-4 hours. this WILL sort your problem.

I would like to second that. Avast is a great program. Stay away from CrapAfee or Norton Hell Works.

Also if you cant get rid of the problem try restoring to an eairlier time, this should remove the virus. Also get your hands on Avast.
