Well the easiest method of doing away with such behavior on his part, in my opinion, is to call technical support of one or more software companies that you know your dad respects, and have them impart some knowledge onto him. If you have a legally bought Windows, call their technical support phone number when your dad is nearby, explain the situation, grab him, put him on the phone, and let them explain the odds of anything hackers controlling your computer through on-line games.

lol, just call any tech support people and they can tell your dad the real deal. it doesnt have to be microsoft, any one will do. have you considered that maybe your dad just doesnt want to expose you to racism and crude behaviour online? (this probly isnt the case, just putting it out there because i dont know how old you are ect.)

Online players cant "hack" into your computer, the worse thing that can happen is them telling you to do something stupid and you falling for it.

Kill your dad. I killed mine and I havn't looked backthe_real_jspark

OH MY GOD! So did I, its super-fantastic.

My dad was like "Empty the dishwasher, boy" and I said "Im not a boy, IM A MAN!" so I picked up my 3 month old baby sister and threw it at him.  The baby hit his feet, and my dad slipped on it and cracked his neck.  Ever since then I havent looked back or emptied a single dishwasher!  Hooray for patricide!

Dont worry, my sister lived and we are now married with 5 deformed children.

Tell your dad his computer is more likely to get hacked by surfing to pornsites. He knows he does it :P

Seriously, I think it's just a random excuse because he's worried about you becoming addicted or something.

Cheers,

T.

BTW. 6 pictures in a row of Jack Bauer, I almost threw up my breakfast. Thanks a lot.

Go buy the game you want and play online, don't say a word to him! That simple and if he see you play simple tell him it is offline game. If don't want to do this, call Blizard's support and say to them the situation, just add: i want to play wow so much, can you talk to him, explaining that nothing wrong can happen? Problem solve!

You need to pursuade your Dad. Good ideas have been mentioned, but it can be tough to change someones mind when they feel certain about something, because partly, they don't want to lose face and admit they were wrong. What you need are facts and diplomacy. Print out materials from an online article for example backing up your point of view, and write a note saying this is something you would like to do, and even offer something in return (like doing some household jobs). An indirect approach like that might show you're serious, without forcing your Dad to lose face in front of you. Â
