ok so i increase my fsb with auto voltages and can get a stable overclock to 1199 fsb - about 2.7ghz. so then i bump it to 1200 and BOOM no system startup, i have also tried 1220 and 1240 but still get the same result.

why can i not get past 1199?

is it my cpu or mobo that is to blame?

i have googled this problem put no one seemed to have a successful solution. just wondered if you guys could help. ive had bad experiences fiddling with voltages in the past so dont really want to experiment with them all over, i just want to see how far i can get with auto as some people report having gotten to 3.0ghz on auto.

thanks

Even a 1mhz diffrence can be enough to go from stable to unstable, but usally in your kind of troubble it's about how the ram running a diffrent divider, are you sure that it don't Auto set the memory to the freq/divider nearest the stock it has and it may be a jump ram not able to cope with? (as an ex. 200FSB/800 effective memory running 1:2/800mhz when you OC to 220FSB the memory still go 1:2/880mhz then when you put up 295FSB it jumps to 1:1.66/979,5Mhz) This is why you would have to do it manually and not do anything with the settings on Auto, doing ewrything to auto so is dangerous because you don't know the effects of what your FSB increase is. If you want to OC, start by browsing thru some guides online, read your MB manual, check up what the maximum voltage you pass thru your stuff is online. Then start taking control of your hardware one step at a time.
