First off, im sorry if this is in the wrong section, but this where i thought it would fit. Anyways my Internets been really slow lately and i don't know whats wrong. I checked its speed and i have a dl of 2000 and a upload of 500, which what ive always had. But, now sometimes when i try to use the Internet, it wont work and it would continue not working for a varying amount of time. Theres also a problem where the Internet seems slower, though only when i play games online. And this doesn't just happen with PC, but same goes for my xbox 360. Games sometime would be so laggy that im forced to quit. Sometimes i can also barley find any games at all when searching for them.

This problem occurs with every computer in the house and im desperate for help. Its also not the cable company as they said everyone else is fine. Could it be my router? i have an old Mn-500 which is bout 5 years old now i believe. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting all computers from the net except leave one one and test your connection.

it does speed up but its just that ive never had a problem before with having 3 computers using the Internet at once. Its been like this for the past few years and we never had problems with it until now. playing games like diablo and CS was fine, but now the lag is killing me and its impossible to play, same goes for the xbox. i dont get it because i can use the internet fine, but only when playing games does it seem to suffer...

Do you still have to documentation for your router? They may be something in it that tells you how to run a diagnostics routine on the hardware. If not, you should be able to get a copy off the manufacturers website.

I believe i still i do, ill look for it. Now Idefinitely think its the router though because earlier today i could play xbox live, even if it was laggy. But all of a sudden right now, the xbox just keeps failing to receive an ip address. This has happened a few times before, but i simply re connected the xbox to the router to fix that, but now it dosent seem to be working at all. Also one of the computers has horrible internet connection while the other 2 are still fine.

Have you re set youre router? Also you may not like to bileve it but it is highly possible that other PC's on youre network are using a large amount of bandwith?

Also when you test youre internet speed what is youre Ping (if it dont say ping then look for ms) try www.speedtest.net
