BF1942 Forgotten Hope mod or the Desert Combat mod. Both were infinitely more fun and engaging than anything else in the series. In desert combat you could load a vehicle and players into the cargo area of the C130 where they could move around freely. Another player would operate the large door to open and close it allowing infantry to make HALO jumps. For lulz you could open the back door and pull up 90 degrees to eject everyone out the back.
BF2 and 1942 are tied. 1942 I had some the best LAN times with friends for years, it wasn't as good online. BF2 on the other hand was some of the best online experiences I've had, and one of the best experiences bro-ing out with randoms while playing. Though I have to say 2142 is by far the most underrated, and Titan mode is still spectacular. Honourable mention to BC2. It was an absolute hoot with friends, the tighter maps, combat focus and bam-bam CODlike action. It all worked much better then it should've.
BC2>BF3>1943>BF2>BC1>1942. Never played 2142, so I can't comment. Thing is with BF3, the more I play it, the more I dislike the little things about the game, unlike the first year or so, that's all that I played.
1942/Desert Combat and BFV are the best all around. Â Competiviely I had the most fun in BF2 until c4 throwing and dolphin diving took over. Â 2142 was trash. Havent touched Bf3.
BF2 and then BF1942 with Desert Combat mod....I got my fill of modern warfare and WW2 with these two. That's why I'm not really too eager to play another modern warfare or WW2 FPS.
BF 1942 hands down though I don't play it anymore. Â So many epic moments storming the beaches of normandy or flying a *** zero. Â Would be nice to have a remake...
That's a difficult question, they all have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, the stupid constant artillery strikes in BF2 (although air dropping a jeep on top of a camping sniper was epic) , only 32 players in BC2, and the awful unlock system in BF3. I liked BF 2142 but I don't really remember enough about it to fairly judge it.
I'm between Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. I got into BF2 and 2142 later then I should have and didn't enjoy them too much, especially with the hardcore fans that tore up newbies like me. Bad Company 2 got me back into the series in a big way when it came out, especially for having the best multiplayer since BF2, also amazing multiplayer on consoles, and a cool campaign, but BF3 definitely goes bigger and better for the most part and 64 player battles are a welcome return.

Same here. I will admit that I'm not one of those hardcore BF2 2142 veterans. That's unfortunate for me that I played those games later on and not when they released. BC2 was a joy to play. It's THE game that really got me back into the Battlefield series. BF3 does a lot of things better but lacks some of the most important features like VOIP and team/squad mechanics that could have made it the best in the series. I'd have to say BF3 considering I'm not the typical BF-veteran-player.
