HD4870 FTW! X360PS3AMD05

Some rumours say that it will fight with the GTX260, and the 4870x2 with the GTX280.

The 4850 should fight the 9800GTX.

We'll have to see benchies, just 2 weeks more for their releases!

Well the Very high end segment is never worth it in price vs. performance, but thats not what you get either you just get the best out there and that cost money.

Nvidia 9 series was a joke, probably the biggest failure since their FX series. About the only card worth buying is the 9600GT and eventhough the 9800GX2 is currently raping every card in existance, the price doesn't justify for its performance.

9800GTX? What a joke....

well if its better then sure. this is the way economy rolls. producer makes a product and if the consumer ( high end gamers) want it enough.... and a lot of us do.... we will pay huge amounts for it. maybee we should stop buying the high end cards so they need to lower their prices ;)

ive probably made it confusing but this is what i mean, the HD4850 will compete against the 9800GTX whilst the HD4870 will beat the 9800GTX by quite a bit but also fall a bit short of the GTX 260, hopefully thats cleared it up.

Lol, argue all you want, if it wasn't better they wouldn't have released it. Youre the one with the 8800, ..you will defend it all day.

Lol.

One 9800GX2 is equivalent to two 8800's in SLI. There isnt a big difference in the cards but there is still a difference.

The 9800GX2 is a single card only needing 1 PCI-E... not 2 like SLI 8800GT.

Nvidia did a perfect job to get naive people just like you to purchase there cards that have no performance increase over pass gen.

I also hate when people try to sound smart by not knowing some info and saying that the other people have no true backup.

This may be a bit harsh but... learn to difference ddr, pci, pci-e slots before quoting people talking about hardware.

The GTX 280 will be one beastly card, but I can't justify paying $650 for a graphics card, or even $450 for the GTX 260.

I would buy a cheap card, like a 8800 GTS 512, for now and then buy a GT200 card when they drop in price, which should be in Fall 2008. Supposedly, that's when they'll start producing 55nm variants, which will provide them better yields and consequently result in lower prices.

to the guy saying he also has SLI 9800's and their great.. well i do too, and hey right now i'm not complaining, but when the GTX280 comes out, and if it can do crysis VH 2x AA 2500 x 1600 .. then hell.. right now my SLI 9800's do 1680x 1050 VH 0 AA at 20-25 FPS ( sometimes gets choppy in huge firefights or big area's.... if the GTX280 is going to be that good, ill sell off each of my 9800's to my friends for about 200 $ each, blow 1200$ and get a 30 inch samsung 2500x1600 monitor, and be happy for another two generations ( cuz we all know every other nvidia gen is a filler gen [ cough cough 9 series, 5 series, and not soo much as bad, 7 series)

Lol, argue all you want, if it wasn't better they wouldn't have released it. Youre the one with the 8800, ..you will defend it all day.

Lol.

One 9800GX2 is equivalent to two 8800's in SLI. There isnt a big difference in the cards but there is still a difference.

LOL, looks like someone is trying to justify their purchase! :D

My 3way 9800's will last a lot longer than your 2way 8800's. gg report loss.

Report your fail. You're 3x9800s lasted about 2 months untill better cards came out. Period, better cards are coming out, so technicaly they'll be out of date in like a month.

2x 8800GTs on the other hand have lasted quite a long time, almost a year and a bit.

If you put them into comparision they may start and end at different periods but the 2way 8800GTs will have gone longer.

Personally, id say after some research that 8800 is a better deal, but screw both of them, if the 280 really can destroy crysis im going for that

Why? Because you don't play at high resolutions?

Hm, im trying to sound smart?@ Aparently you don't know how o read. But it's pointless to judge something before it's even out yet. so gtfo before i dome you.

SHiFTY_v4

Sry if i misunderstood you, maybe because apparently you dont know "how o write". ;)

But i agree, we cant really compare things before they release, that was why we were talking about rumours.

The 9800GTX is a fine card there's nothing particularly bad about it. That being said the 260 and 280 haven't had any test runs so we still cannot decide whether the 9800GTX was a filler for 2 months or if it will still compete with the 260 and 280 later on. Once a benchmark of Crysis is performed and if the 260GTX does exceed my expectations, I will gladly accept the fact that I bought a 9800GTX and now have to rely on the Step up program to get a 260GTX, however from the specs i am seeing, the performance increase seems as if it will not be much, I do not think it is a justifiable jump from 9800gtx to 260gtx.
