the 5870x2 is definately on the way, codenamed "Hemlock". Haven't found a date yet, should be before the holidays though, got a hankering for picking up 2 of those for insane CF (if the price is not too far above 600$ each)

eyefinity gaming with 3 24" or 30" need alot of power to run games at those insane resolutions will mainting high fps and high settings a single 5870 wouldnt do so well with current games crossfire 5870 is a minimum for that and quad crossfirewould defintly be preferred.
Hopefully not too soon want to get the most out of my 4890... with it out I might be tempted to get it, since I've been planning on getting a 22" monitor for a while been stuck with my trusty 19" syncmaster for too long.
My guess will be to counter Nvidia's 300's.. I have a feeling it will be like this.. 5870 price will fall, then Nvidia will introduce their card for a high price premium and AMD will counter with a x2 card for the same price.
The new 5870x2 (5900) will be god of all graphics cards but whats the point of getting it? The 5850 and 5870 is plenty enough to play any game out there on max settings without a hitch. The 5900 would be overkill for anyone that could fit it in their case(by cutting away metal). The graphics cards are advanceing in technolocy so fast games can't keep up lol

what makes you think 2 of them will equal $1200 you might as well wait and get nvidia
