Yes, but chances are it will still be slower and more expensive than Intel... or slightly cheaper and still much slower, making intel still a better buy. And id you on the old AM2 it will probably require a new motherboard, might as well get an intel now rather than waiting.

Do you mean the AMD 45nm chips? When is that supposed to be? I probably couldn't wait that long anyway, might wait until after i7 is released just for maybe price drops for the current platform.

Yeah, too long to wait for me... and if there only as good as intels current line thered be no reason anyhow... I'd rather stay with amd rather than switch to the dark side lol, but it makes little sense to stay with amd today.

In all honesty there first chips are clamied to hit 3.0ghz or maybe even over 3ghz they will have a larger cache size also for better overclocking i hope it stays the same socket tho so ill wait till 09 when they come out its around the corner as is ;)

Its only one application... but in video encoding, you see almost a iinear performance increase as you increase cores... 4 cores is twice as fast as 2 cores. It does show the potential. But as it is now, most games are not CPU bound, so supporting 4 cores has not been a big priority.

Doesn't anyone read anymore...? At the top of the article, in bold even. Maybe highlighting it will work.

I've seen infomation that AMD will be releasing a new Phenom X4 that will be 3.0Ghz around Jan 9th. I can't remember if it is 65nm or 45nm though. I'd imagine that AMD will release a Black Edition version of that processor after it's release.
