February, when Warhammer arrives to our doorsteps.Skullheart
I bet anyone who plays wow doesn't even know about because there so busy playing it. :|
Something better will come along, when the Tech and the Talent allow for it. Just imagine 14 years from* now when compaired to 14 years ago.
*edit- from not for
A game won't be released that suddenly just takes over WoW as far as current subscriptions go. WoW will reach a point where it begins to lose more people than it takes on, and just like anything else... those people will find a new addiction at that point. I seriously doubt though that a single game will take them away, it will be the gradual decline.
it's almost impossible that any single game will just replace world of warcraft - wow has about nine million subscribers, i don't know how many players - but i'd imagine you've probably got at least a couple million on at any given time
no one game is going to take a few million from world of warcraft - that just won't fly... it'll be a few hundred thousand from lotro, a few hundred thousand from warhammer online, a few hundred thousand from conan - it's gonna take a ton of very good games all chipping away at the pie chart to actually whittle wow down
and it isn't going to happen quickly, or soon or - probably - ever
get used to the idea of the only game replacing wow at the #1 being wow2 - because blizzard's fanbase is enormous, and still growing
WoW is beginning it fizzle. With the releases of newer and better MMO RPG's, WoW starting to look like a cartoon from the 1940's. I never like the game from the first timeI played it because the graphics were severely dated, even for it's time. The slow chopshop battles is what turned me off the most. I want intense battles, and that will probably never come until someone releases a fantasyMMO with realtime combat and control. I'm tired of these psuedo turn based trash.
Something like Fable Online would be great. Slap in a cool economy with a larger world and longer quests. Make the quests original and more difficult so there doesn't have to be 300 repetitive quest goals. Games like Guild Wars and WoW have nothing but the same churning garbage. All ArenaNet did was take current ideas and break them down so that it takes more time to accomplish. It's a good thing that they didn't break down the armor creation to the point where you have to buy thread and a sewing machine. Boring. Games should be fun and challenging, not tedious and boring. Pirates of the Burning Sea looks like another MMO I'll be avoiding. Boring slice and dice combat. Chop, my turn, chop, your turn, slash,my turn, etc.
As far as I'm concerned, WoW is not #1 if you take into account theincrease ofnew users. More and more people are piling onto Guild Wars at a higher rate than WoW and it's only a matter of time when it surpasses.

Idunno. A restuarant never stays in business because it attracts new customers. It stays in business because it keeps the few customers it has coming back. I think WoW will be the same way. Just look at Diablo 2; how many units of Diablo have sold in the past three years? Not a lot...but look at how many people still play it.
*Same thing with Starcraft. There have been many newer and better RTS games with acceptable balancing, but Starcraft still dominates.
Hopefully Conan takes a lot of people away. I got hiiiiiigh hopes for this game, more so than Warhammer. Warhammer is a well established franchise, however, so it will problably get a couple millions players. It just looks too much like WoW imo.mrbojangles25
Mmm hehe more like WoW looks too much like Warhammer hehe.. Anyways Warhammer Online is being made by the people who made Dark Ages of Camelot a mainly PVP mmo.. Unlike WoW, Warhammer will be mainly pvp orinetated instead of pve.
heh warhammer online is turning into a wow clone, like alot of other new mmo's that are hitting the markets within the next 18 months. its a shame that everyone is trying to grab a portion of the customer base wow has, by making 2nd rate clones, rather then being different. WHile i have hopes for warhammer online, its to early to really say that its going to be a great success.
WoW is and will continue to be #1 for years, The ammount of time people dedicate to that game on a weekly basis is a given. Most people playing wow average around 20 hours per week i would expect, with some alot more, and some less. Until a game reaches those #'s with the Time investment MMO's require, xfire will continue to show wow as #1.
