I think you've gotten confused. You can't access Xbox Live through a Vista PC. Certain games, such as Shadowrun and Halo 2, will allow anyone who has the game AND Vista to play against people with an Xbox / 360. So, for example, if you have Vista and Halo 2 PC version, you'll be able to play against people playing Halo 2 on the Xbox. At least I think this is right.

No, not exactly. Halo 2 will be not playable with 360 players, the only 2 games confirmed right now are Shadowrun and Uno.

xbox live is coming to vista.  it's my understanding that "live anywhere" will allow you to create and access your xbox live account from pc (vista), windows mobile, cell phones, etc., even if you don't own an xbox.  ms is using this as a easy-access stepping stone for people to purchase a 360.

certain games will let you play against people on their 360s or even cell phones (like simpler puzzle games).

i'm not an xbox guy, but i'm pretty sure this is how it works.

K you guys have it all wrong. halo 2 pc wont be able to play halo 2 xbox. But their si hope for other games. In the new opperating system VISTA. they will have an ability to do croos platform. So if you have seen those games that say games for windows their going to change the requirments. For a game to be games for windows it has to have the ability to pllay against people who own an xbox.

So their will be an xbox live for pc and xbox.

yes that is right, but you still get a live anywhere menu that keeps all your friends in there and tells you when someone is playing, and they can send you invites, just like xbox live, which is what the OP is referring to.
so in short, yes there is a xbox-like menu for Vista once live anywhere gets active.

You started off correct, but for some reason went a little crazy there. Games For Windows does have certain requirements to get the tag, such as widescreen support and compatibility with the 360 controller. Shadowrun and UNO are the first games to get cross platform gaming, there will be a few other XBLA games such as GeoWars that will most likely share the same leaderboards.....Other than that, don't expect a ton of games having the ability to play against 360 gamers.

Halo 2 is most definitely going to be a GFW game...... It will never be cross platform though. What people have to realize is how different Shadowrun is going to be compared to a traditional shooter. Basically they would have to change Halo 2 for the 360 as well, which just isn't going to happen at this point.
