So my PC isn't going to last much longer and i am not sure weather to go out and buy one now or wait because isnt Intel due to release its new line of processors this year. I don't really want to go out and get a PC with a core 2 duo in it to be outdated in 6 months time.

There isn't any great rush so i was just wondering Should i wait 6 months or get one within a months time?

Well.. I will honor your request and be blunt.

If you dont want to built right now, then your not going to find anything new as far as cpu/chipset until 2009. Your NOT going to be outdated in 6 months.

Wait till april. Price cuts. Get a LGA775 mobo that supports the 45nm wolfdales and yorkfields. If you got a pci-e gpu, use it till summer and the new gpu's come out. You need to decide on DDR2 or DDR3 mobo. Read alittle about DDR3 and where its going and decide. Its pricey, but has a longer lifespan. However the current motherboards might not fully utilize it by then, and your wasting money and can just go high end DDR2 right now.

Build in april. That is going to be a excellent month to build.

I say go for it now. The technology is going to advance faster than games can fully utilize that technology, particularly when it comes to processing speeds. The new stuff is going to be overpriced for the performance gain, too.

First of all, the budget is the main concern. Whats the point of waiting for new products if you cant afford to get it ??
Second of all, If people arent using the full 4 cores in their quads except for hard designing work so how its going to be even with 8 cores ?? Another thing to say that after Nehalem gets released, you might end up waiting longer to get the new line of 32mm CPUs so you are waiting for an endless date.

If i were you, i'd start building my PC once i have the money/time to do it and when i feel that i do really need to upgrade my existing system.
Maybe if you wait till summer to get something from the new GPU series from both nVidia/AMD, that would make sense but you can build one at this time and use it with an old/used GPU.
