when the PCB maunfacturer (or whatever they make) gets back up and running and can supply parts to ATI
Never at this rate lawl. I have been waiting for one since release data and they went out of stock instantly. ATI is too busy not making cards, well they don't fabricate them but it still makes me angry :( The power supply is fine. If I were you I would wait for Nvidia's offering so that the 5970's inflated price will drive down. I still want ATI's card more than Nvidia's because of the inputs and outputs it has. It really sucks that Nvidia's new cards only have two dvi ports, really stupid...JigglyWiggly_
How many DVI ports do you need? Are they lacking in other outputs? No HDMI?

No hdmi, or display port. I need 3, because I have 3 monitors, I don't want to have another videocard for the third display again D:Never at this rate lawl. wow i didn't even know that : /
I ordered mine through provantage.com. It was a little cheaper than newegg and I am very pleased with their customer service (they actually called me and thanked me for my order). They put in an order with ASUS so I'll get one of the next ones off the line. My ship date is supposed to be the 22nd according to ASUS.
5970 probably costs too much to manufacture and ATI is focusing on their other more profitable HD 5K series chips.

5970 has no dvi. looking at the back of mine right now. It has two of them lol, + hdmi and displayport.I want to buy it soon, perhaps this week. But everywhere I search, its out of stock. How soon will be able to purchase it? Also, is this power supply compatible with it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006BluRayHiDefJust get yourself two 5850's and crossfire them :)

Two 5850s are slower and consume more power :?

isnt the 5970 a dual card in the first place? at least when something goes wrong, you wont lose them both.

a 5970 is two 5850s put together, yes two 5850s consume more power, but2x5850>5970

I think it's two clocked down 5870s actually, but it performs on par with 2 5850s.[QUOTE="ironman388"]a 5970 is two 5850s put together, yes two 5850s consume more power, but[QUOTE="MaoTheChimp"]

I think it's two clocked down 5870s actually, but it performs on par with 2 5850s. This is correct, that is why the 5970 is made for overclocking. They don't clock it faster because it would EXCEED ATX spec.I've read somewhere that the 5970, however beastly at overclocking, cannot reach the same clocks as what two individual 5870's can achieve due to a hardware limitation of some sort. Can't recall what, though :?

IIRC, the PCIe slot has a max power draw of 300W, and the 5970 is dangerously close to that. However, with two PCIe slots with 1 5870 one each, one is able to overclock them in CF as they please, since the each PCIe slot can handle each 5870 easily.
