All the articles I can find on Google that say Vista won't allow SLi are from RC1/RC2 or just after release, it's possible it's already fixed. You'd have to find somebody who is running CrossFire or SLi on Vista to confirm if it is fixed, though.
I saw it on alienware.com, when I was picking parts, it said that SLI doesn't currently support SLI.
NOW I WON'T BE BUYING FROM ALIENWARE, costs like minimum $10,000 for a good computer. I could build it on newegg for cheaper, or if I don't feel like building it(my parents are worried, since any individual part could break and sending it back to newegg could be a pain), try to minimize cost with a high powered Dell.
SLI offers only a 30% increase on average. 100% is the theoretical limit. SLI is not worth the extra cost.GogWell if I get an 8900 GTX, how long will it be before I really need to upgrade? I mean this thing can run Crysis fine, and I do'nt see anything like Crysis for now, so it'll be a while before I REALLY need to upgrade, right?

Yea, you won't have to worry for at least 2.5 years. By then, you can buy a new card for less than your extra SLI config that will also perform a whole lot better.
[QUOTE="Mr_Mushu"]Sure, but I'm still going to dual boot. I just hate the look of Vista and want the XP interface for my dad-to-day use.how about Vista, is it worth it?
Does is plays most of the games or not?

really? are the looks ugly?
dual boot?.. what that? :$
[QUOTE="RyuHayabusaX"]One more question: Could a single 8900 GTX handle a resolution of 1920 x 1080p on say Crysis? Assuming you have a powerful Quad-Core, and if you really have to, 4 GB of RAM?kodex1717Most def.

We'll find out when the 8900 GTX or 9800 GTX (Whatever name they pick) comes out.

I just don't like the look of it. Dual booting is having two OS's on two different partitions on your Hard Drive. you select which one to load when you turn on the computer.ok, I have a 7950GX2 ( what counts as SLI)
1./ only the early beta versions of Vista Didnt support SLI, now they do
2./ the guy who says 30% is wrong, althrough 100% is way to high, you can count on it running 60/70 % higher
3./ no, I had vista, I gone back to XP, since Vista is NOT worth the pusrchase yet ( my opinion, dont quote me)
4./ X-fi cards are NOT supported by vista, also many EAX feature wil not be availible in Vista, its becouse of the new sound API of Microsoft
enough said
