I'm wondering if there are any good free(LEGAL) sites to download demos, there are several games I want to try before I buy, so theres no buyers remorse. Any virus free suggestions?
I highly recommend fileplanet.com. You need to make a free account, and download the IGN download manager (does it automatically). The downloads are fast, and no viruses.

where do i sign up for fileplanet? I click "join now" and get various payed options, when i dont want full games, just demos, i buy fullgames in stores not online.
I use fileplanet because the download manager is good, wait times can be a bit annoying but speed for me is fast. Other than that I'd check out www.gamershell.com and www.filefront.com, FF works well with download managers and gamershell is no login, no nonsense fast downloads good site.
I go here http://www.3ddownloads.com/ They make you wait a few mins for download to start but once it does it's full speed but when search they can confuse you with the messy search list.

Fileplanet is terrible for non-subscribers, had to wait 20 minutes to download the Quake Beta because I had reformatted and was no longer a paying member x_x
Avoid 3dgamers.com. The transfer rates for all of their servers are really slow. Gamespot and Filefront are good choices, even if you don't pay to join either of them.
3dgamers up untill gamespy took control, now they suck, gamershell is pretty good and so is filefront, i dont like GS for downloads b/c its allways somewhat slow
