Where does the Game Save Data Go?

Hey,

I had deleted files off my PC that were not used (or so I thought) and today when I went to load my game on Half Life 2, it said that there were no files to load. Where would these load files be saved to. Also, is there any cheat to get me up to where I was?

I went under start new game, and from there I selected the level I was on and had just started.

Most of the time it goes to the documents folder but if you bought it off of steam then it should be in your steam folder somewhere
