i live in grece and i am in austria for a few days and i am thinking to buy it but i don't know if the game here in austria is uncut.

i want the uncut version.

When you receive your "sex" card, a few of them show bare breasts.

If your version shows nipples, then you have the uncut.

If your version doesnt show nipples, then your version is censored.

You might have to squint to actually tell the difference, example below:

And what I dont get is why theyre afraid of nudity in a game thats rated M.

iirc correctly, rated M means 17 and older or something. 17 year olds can see R rated movies, which have nudity and gore. It just doesnt add up.

Well, I got nothing against the US but their ratings are totally bullcrap. They are totally biased when nudity and/or sex are involved. They are acting like nudity and sex are the root of all evil, but brutal violence is OK. A 10 year old is not allowed to see a nipple, but mindless violence with gallons of blood pouring out of dead bodies is totally OK.

And then they complain when a teenager kills someone because "SUPPOSEDLY" he saw too much violence... Ugh...

Is there a mod out to make it uncensored? ala Hot Coffee ?

Also Sacred which was made by Ascaron (a German company) was also censored for blood in the US release.. this was fixed in the US release of Underworld.. but the original game was censored...

What wuold be illegal? I don't know the story of why it was censored, but I would imagine the ESRB was going to give it an AO rating or something.

It sucks that nipples got censored. However, not only that, even some character speech was censored. Playing the censored version makes me feel like missing on the whole adult theme the developers intended for the game.hamidious

No speech was censored from the EU to the NE version. Some people are confusing translation with censorship. Both english versions have the same amound of F bombs and such, but we did lose alot of violent language (and normal language) in the translation from polish. Mostly because many of those words don't exist in english, but some of the other cuts to the dialogue are a bit harder to understand.

anyhow...the answer is no. the language is exactly the same in the censored and uncensored versions of witcher (english)

I still smile whenever anyone says that - it's just so unexpected, in a Tolkein-esque setting.

Strangely, I can't think of any other high fantasy game that tries to be gritty or 'realistic' (swearing, mass poverty, whores, etc.).

It's not a big deal and probably isn't worth trying to import an uncensored version. The nudity is only in still images that you won't spend too much time looking at. Really, if someone needs nipple pictures that bad they probably already know of better ways to see better nipples.Otherdude

OMG, you dont understand, do you? If you buy the Eu or NA version without caring, the ESRB will keep on censoring, because it wont do any difference in the money NA's shops will do. If we boycott American shops and by from EU each time they do that, NA shops will do pressure on the ESRB so that they censor less often. Thats a question of principle, not boobies. If you like being controlled by someone else who tells you what to see and not see, well, your mom can do that, you dont need the ESRB for that.
