Hi, I was wondering where you guys buy old graphics cards, new? Obviously it depends on age, so for example I looked for a HD6950 as this was my old card, and cant find it anywhere new.

Reason I ask is because when my GTX780 cant handle games well anymore and I want to add another for sli, I dont want to leave it so long that I cant find it anywhere. I might even buy one when maxwell comes out, if they drive the prices down.

How long do you guys think, going off previous cards, it will be before online retailers don't stock a gtx780 new?

Unsure of what settings you like to play on before you go out and get a new card, but unless they are near ultra, you are better off getting a new GPU than getting an old one for SLI.

I do indeed like to play on the highest settings. I will keep an eye out, I have never used xfire or Sli before, so I have never known when cards come off the shelves. How long is it usually? 2 or 3 years or so?

I would really not go sli if I was you or it is you need insanely high resolutions and don't want to break the bank, allthough for most people a gtx 780 would already break the bank. The reason i would stay away from dual setups is drivers and game compatibility, sli is very nice till suddenly you have a game that doesn't work well with it and then you'll curse your sli. Better to sell the 780 when there's need for another card and buy a newer card.

Just kidding, you should be fine when the new GTX8XX series will be coming out, there will be plenty 780 in stores.

Usually you should be able to find another simillar GPU for about a year or two after release of that GPU.

GTX 780 struggling? Are you playing on 3-way screens and 4K resolution? Otherwise you're lying bro, lying!
