There's two ones that I've seen and like... They seem very similar also O_o They are:

Samsung SM-226BW

LG L226WTQ

The Samsung I can get for £240 delivered, and it would be a garuanteed S panel. From HERE I wanted to show you the monitors from the same website. Which of these two is the better? Also, any other suggestions, feel free ;)

Thanks in advance.

I asked a question like this a while back and people said the Samsung. I will also say the Samsung, I am going to buy it soon but maybe even sooner after seeing that offer on your link, thank you very much for posting the link.

Thanks for the input. I've got the money, so I'll probably order one of them today, or if someone has a better idea etc...

Well if you lived in the US I would've suggested an Acer 22" LCD. It's on sale at a store in the US now for $200 US dollars after rebates. There are also coupons out there which could also be used to bring the final price down to $160 US dollars too. Since that's not an option, I'd go with the Samsung.

Because they make good LCDs, Plasmas, DLPs and a lot of the panels in other companies LCD monitors.

I have the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, its a great monitor... I'm going to be buying a second one soon for dual screen funtime.

I'd easily recommend this monitor to anyone.

If you get it, here is a thread on tuning the picture on it. Factory defaults on this monitor are not very great. After a few tweaks though it really shines.

Thanks, if I do go for the samsung, I'll definitely use that!

Does anyone know which of the two companies have the better dead pixel warranty?

Im doing an LG one very similar to that, with the same spex.  I was gonna do the Samsung, but at side viewing angles, all the image turns black.  Plus the LG has gotten jsut as good reviews and ratings and its $100-$150cdn less then the Samsung.  I have all Samsung TVs in my house and my buddy has LG and there both great.  You really cant go wrong with either...LG is a top manufacturer of LCDs and Plasma's too.

Lols, thanks for the balanced reply ^_^

Spec wise, they're exactly the same right? The LG is about £20 cheaper... So the price difference is nothing justifiable, it's basically the better of the two... But if the side viewing's bad on the Samsung?

Yes they atually showed a demo of it being done.  What happens, say your looking at the tomatoes on the screen, then walk to the side, well the screen goes black and grey/yellow like.  You can see the tomatoes still, but there those wierd colors.  Ill try to find something for you later.

Im at awork right now.  But Ive weighed this in and Im going for the LG.  I sold my sweet 20" Acer LCD to my mom for $280cdn and the LG is $380cdn with a 0 Dead Pixel Guarantee too.  The Samsung is $500cdn with a 0 Dead Pixel guarantee.  The LG 22" I want, differs from yours, cause its all black, not grey and black.

Ah that sucks... I don't think they've got that one in the UK :( From what you've said, it'll be the LG most likely, it's just the white bits on it throw me a little... But, if it's not going to turn black as I go to the side :P

Thanks a lot for your help, I'll have a look for the black version that you're getting, maybe they'll be releasing it soon or I can find one...  Also, if you do stumble accross anything on the Samsung, I'd be grateful ^_^

Cheers.

Any more opinions on the matter? I've noticed that the only difference I can see, is that the LG has a viewing angle of 170/170, whereas the Samsung is 160/160...

That the case with pretty much any cheap LCD monitor. Considering the price of these monitors, you can't expect too much.

I thought that £200+ ($400+) Was a fair amount.... I mean, I could pay a fair bit less... But the quality and size are wanted...

22 inch LCDs have the same specs as ordinary 20 inch screens but at a higher price. If you want quality, get a 400$ 20 inch. If you want size, go for those 22 inch screens.

Well, the difference between the 20" and the 22" is a max of only £40, the extra two inches are worth this for me. Are these good specs for a monitor though?

I have a samsung 22' SyncMaster 225BW been using it since last November and have had 0 issues other than a bit of backlight bleed which is common in most 22" LCD's.

These are the top two 22" LCDs on the market.  So yes you do expect alot.  Tops for backlighting, tops for the blacks they produce, tops for the contrast (3000:1), tops for ms and tops for LCD makers.  These still better all the stats on the 20" screens.  Also these screens are scoring 8.5-9/10 on avg, from buyers and reviewers.

youve had all 3 of those LCDs?  I find that suspicious, considering they have all been launched within the past half year.  But hey, you could have had them.   But it gets worse reveiws then the other 2, along with its specs arent as good.  SCoring on avg...7-7.5/10

I have the 226 BW and am very happy with it. The reason to get it over the LG is the viewing angle. Samsung is much better there. Other than that they are very comparible

 IMHO, it's because of:

1) Samsung's brand reputation

2) Better design

It's not really the sides that are problematic but the top-down angle. It sucks to look at a monitor an see that the colors at the bottom are fading because the vertical angle is so small. The monitor isn't height adjustable either so you'll have to put something underneath the monitor to put it at eye level. Granted, that just my opinion, most people barely seem to notice it...
