My original plan was to buy all products on newegg and have Geeks to Go at Best Buy build the computer. However, they just told me they would charge $400 to build it! (I don't understand as someone there told me $120 a few months ago) I don't know of any other companies in atlanta near me that will build.

I can't decide between digitalstorm, which has awesome customer service and seems very dependable (and can overclock the i7 920, 295 gtx I want), or the MUCH cheaper cyberpowerpc or ibuypower, which are about 400-500.00 cheaper for the same computer. Reading their forums, it seems that MOST customers re happy with the cheaper companies, but some of the responses were really horrific (computers didn't work when they received them, bad customer service, etc.). Are these two companies trustable or must I go with digitalstorm???

are there any other DEPENDABLE companies a bit cheaper than digital storm???

Also, I am a computer illiterate IDIOT with NO TIME to build a computer!!!! Thanks.

$400 to build you a PC? No way, that is greatly exaggerated. I'm not sure in Atlanta, but I can suggest that you hire someone in need of work, a great place to look is craigslist, there are some people that will help you with that for a reasonable price. I've helped people out in the past, from building their system to troubleshooting it. Of course, your millage will vary from person to person, but there should be plenty of certified people there in need of a bit f work.

I'm anti-Best Buy. Geek Squad is a sham. They're paid to wipe, not fix.

That's pretty funny because I can build a PC in about an hour so I would be getting paid $400 per hour...... hm....... You could try Tigerdirect.com build to order system and see if you can find something good off there, It allows you to add and improve the base that you buy, but I don't know if there is anything good.

I enjoy Tigerdirect because of the extremely fast shipping. Whenever I order computer parts, they not only come before newegg.com, they come in about 4 days, which newegg took about a week. Both are fast, but Tigerdirect just shocks me.

Just look in the phone book for a local computer repair shop, for a build from parts you bring in I would think $90-$120 for the labor, and if you go to a computer repair shop as opposed to some dude off craigs list, they will most likely warranty their labor for like 90 days but that is something you want to ask them.

ask friends, maybe a friend's dad knows how, it doesn't take a professional to build it
