An AM2 3800+ ~2.4ghz/512kb L2cacheDefinitely the X2. There are plenty of games that already take advantage of two cores.

I'm thinking the X2 would be much better but I'm having 2nd thoughts....Gaming has been said not to utilize multicore yet, so which should I get?

I dont think that was one of the 2 that I mentioned, I know CD2 is betterThat is why I started off with "neither". :D If those were the ONLY two you can choose from, then I guess mutli-core is better, especially if you can OC it a little bit to make up for the speed difference.

2nd question is above 4 or 5 posts8adk1d_16yoThe NVidia drivers have multi-core support, but I do not know how that will translate into specific FPS gains in the games you mention. You may need to OC the video card too, or perhaps even get something better. The good thing is you can try the processor first, and if you want more performance, consider a 8600Ultra or something like that. That way you know you are maxing out your graphics capabilities.
