hey i am going to get a pc game for christmas and i don't know whta i should get. crysis or oblivion. oblivion is really fun because its lkike the best rpg ever. you create your character and dicide if hes evil, good, and assassin, theif, mage, fighter, and dicide what friends he makes. it also has a huge map for exploring too. but crysis...man does that look fun, first person shooters are fun but thweres the chance to relax and explore a little. i love first person shooters. and cryssi looks fun with all the different batlle options you can choose...become invisable and sneak around, or take the battle head on with super strength or sheilds. help me dicide and please give me your oppinions.

I've played both, and I loved both.

Oblivion will last much longer in terms of hours, but it's a little more complex than a shooter like Crysis. On the other hand you sound like you're 8 so maybe you shouldn't be playing M rated games anyway.

You probably aren't going to want to hear too many of the opinions from the PC gamers forum after comments like that.

I guess I will answer your question anyway, because I'm such a helpful fellow. I'm good looking, too. Remember that.

Oblivion is a mediocre RPG - one of the worst RPGs I've ever played, with a generic and boring story, dire voicework, very humdrum dialogue and a combat mechanic which would be exciting if it weren't for the fact that the levelling system - which is fundamentally broken - saps all possible risk and excitement out of it.

But it's one of those games which is better than the sum of its parts - a good thing for it, considering how its parts are all rubbish.

Crysis, on the other hand, is just brilliant. There are guns and North Koreans and I just can't think of a better way to sate your latent xenophobia.

I think this post is going to get moderated, but I'm not sure.

PS buy Crysis.

Well if there isnt anyway you can possibly get both, get oblivion first, since its alot longer than crysis is, After you get a little bored with it, then buy crysis...and love it.

So i guess Oblivion....first but dont ignore crysis.

I'm under the conclusion you're either somewhat illiterate, or you're 11.

In this case, I'll reccomend the Bee Movie game.

Maybe you're younger, you certainly don't act maturer.^^

In answer to the question - they are different game types and very dificult to compare. Crysis is an FPS which while open, in some ways similar to oblivion, doesn't have the degree of depth to it. Oblivion for that reason will last much longer as you discover more and get more out of the game. Crysis is pretty much in your face, sophistacted shooter, always action oriented.

If you want instant excitment, bullets and explosions in a modern warfare sort of setting, go Crysis. If you want to get your kicks in a reasonably realised fantasy world, then oblivion. Both games are a bit heavy on the graphics so make sure your pc can run them before you buy.

What's up with people being jerks lately when someone asks a question...

Anyway I was JUST playing Crysis... as in 5 min ago literally. I got Oblivion when it came out and put about 30 hours into it before getting bored. Crysis I've played for about 3 hours so far and It's fun SPECIALLY for an FPS since I dont like FPS anyway.

If you HAVE to choose between the two, get Oblivion first and get Crysis when you get bored of that. I'm saying that cuz Oblivion will last longer and is cheaper. Both are fantastic graphics wise (that is after getting the obvlion graphics mods) although Crysis does take the edge but then again requires a crazy computer to run at Max.

It depends, if your computer is amazing gt Crysis, just because you can and its worth it, otherwise get Oblivion.

Only problem with Oblivion is that it is one of the worst RPG's ever, try The Witcher or any of the Forgotten Realms if you want a real RPG. If you want a shooter where you use swords instead of guns get Oblivion.

But please don't ever call Oblivion one of the best RPG's ever, I've already lost my faith in humanity once...

I would say both suck, crysis is nothing but a tech demo, and oblivion is a mainstream simplified piece of crap, go buy the witcher or the orange box.

Hmm... You are asking if you should buy Oblivion, but it seems like you already have the game. Or then you are just saying what your friend told you. And since when have you been able to decide if your character is evil or good? There's only few times when you are actually able to choose something. Like Fingers of the Mountain quest for Mage's Guild.

Oblivion is definitely not the best RPG ever.

I think this decision should be easy to make. And btw, you are FAR from the most illiterate preson on these forums. Don't listen to these trolls. They are just mad because you called Oblivion the best RPG ever, which it's not. Anyway, the decision is easy because unless you built your PC yourself or have a brother or something who really knows PCs, you will not be able to play Crysis. It is a big resource hog. Oblivion is not, although you will still need a decent PC. Still, a retail PC that can play Crysis is like $2000+, $1000+ if you build it. If you have that kind of PC, get Crysis. I think you will find it more action-packed and fun than Oblivion. Although, many would argue that if you get mods, Oblivion is just as good a game. I'd still take Crysis first if I were you (and you have the PC for it).

Ok first off Oblivion may not be the best RPG in the world but it is very good. I have played many an RPG but have never had quarrels with Oblivion. Crysis is also an amazing game but to be honest if you dont have to machine to enjoy it properly then you will miss out on a lot of the flashiness. Personally I would go for Oblivion,Was great fun and played for about 40 hours and with the extra content it is fantastic.

I haven't played Oblivion, but I think it can be bought relatively cheap now, depending on where you live. Assuming you would like both games, it's a tough choice, as they are both completely different styles of game. Obilivion has received a bit of a pasting in this thread, so I would probably lean toward Crysis. But then you have tried Oblivion, and like it so...... which type of game do you prefer more. Assuming your PC can play both games.

It depends. They are both a lot of fun, but Oblivion has potential for more game play and will run on a lesser rig. Crysis has brilliant graphics and fun gameplay, but multiplayer is iffy right now to the potential for extended game play is lower. It also depends on if you prefer FPSs or action RPGs.
