if multiplayer is your thing then left 4 dead without a doubt. but for a deeper mainly singleplayer strategy experience empire total war would seem the more worthwhile choice.

none, empire TW is strategy joke (as most total war games) and l4d will last like 1 day (4 capaigns x 1 hour each x 5 times maximum replayability I don't mention versus)
for money you would spent on one of these games you can get a much better deal, if you are undecided just go with l4d, empire is.. you know.. you can try demo and laugh for yourself
Both game are good but they are different so it's hard to choose. It depends on what u want, a game that will take long to finish (total war) or a first person shooter. If i were in your place i would choose total war.
left 4 dead can get boring quite quickly and is not a game that can be played for hours straight if. I find I can only play it for 1 hour then i've had enough. I would buy Empire, then buyLeft 4 Dead.
If you ask people, most people will only tell you based upon their own personal preferences which can be a lot different than you. And some will also base their answer on some irrational bias and prejudice. :) And you are also asking on two very DIFFERENT games. The only one that can answer that is you. 1) Empire Total War is a strategy game. You can hardly find any other game that is as broad and as deep as Empire Total War. You manage your empire and you also fight its battles. Its fun. 2) Left4Dead is at its core, a shooter. You shoot lots of zombies and then you shoot some more zombies. With friends. Its fun. Take your pick.
