Which games do you think is worth more than 20$, 30$, 50$, etc. You can consider criteria like production value of the game, total time you spent playing it, jaw dropping elements in the game, etc.

My candidates are:

  • Bioshock
  • Company of Heroes
  • Baldur's Gate I & II
  • Diablo

Fallout 3, oblivion, CoD4(just cant get enough of the multiplayer), some people say the orange box is worth more than 50$ but i hated it, and world of warcraft. I actualy think WoW is a realy good deal for 15$ a month because that would most likely be the only game you would play so you wouldn't be spending 50 dollars on other games every month.

Good choices except bioshock, I had no reason to play it again after I beat it.

Beyond Good and Evil. I paid $5 for it at release at a Circuit City...then I re-purchased it for $20 off Steam...and I STILL feel like I underpaid for it.

Definately most of the Total War Games. Empire might if they can get a patch to address all the issues.

I agree with Bioshock

World in Conflict surprised me. What a great multiplayer game. The game will never get old to me.

World of Goo

Grand Theft Auto 4 and San Andreas

Mungyodance 3 "It was free" cant get much better then that

Some oldschool stuff:

Dune 2000

Casteles 2 Siege and Conquest

Robert E. Lee Civil War General

Morrowind gave me back about ten-fold what I payed for it. I played the game through about 3 times, and played a myriad of great mods which extended the game time substantially. Also, Mount and Blade gave me more for my money. There was no other game that had given me such awesome mounted combat. That and the unique blend of RPG and Strategy made the game like nothing I had ever played before. All for just $7.50 with the Steam deal.

On PC? got lots. Had MMO's but I'll leave them out. Sims original C&C Red Alert 1 &2, Tiberium Sun Fallout 3 Oblivion San Andreas Total War Series Dawn of War series Neverwinter Nights The Witcher...after a lot of patching Dungeon Keeper 2 X3 sort of I just can't be bothered to get deep into it. Fallout 1 & 2 Divine Divinity Honestly I have like 200 PC games and I am not exactly a PC gamer, but PC games usually don't disappoint me because they last for ages, so I buy them.

Empire Total War has already given me tons of fun and lots of hours of gameplay. Loving this game personally!

Also Team Fortress2, Daggerfall, Dune2, Jedi Knight series, Quake 1 and Fallout1/2.

Usually the games with the most bang for my bucks has been one with a multiplayer component .. surely there are single player games which have given me quite a good time .. but when the game incorporates a solid multiplayer component which encourages pro-gaming scenarios .. clans, matches, ranking ladders .. thats where I feel I've been given a real treat.

such games include the likes of :

Quake 3 Arena: Deathmatch

Jedi Outcast: Capture the Flag

Battlefield 1942: Capture the Flag & Conquest

- Games with single player only that would have been great with multiplayer but was solid enough to not need it include:

Portal

Mirror's Edge

Dead Space

I'm going to go on the basis of when I purchased the game and at what price tag I purchased it at:

Red Alert 2 + Expansion. -$10.00

Fallout 3: 59.99

Act of War: $15.00

Bioshock: $28.99

According to my xfire profile, Age of Conan (when I still played it) and Call of Duty 4 (can't imagine NOT playing it) were my two most worthwhile purchases.

The Orange Box Half-Life 2. I bought it on release day when it came with CS:Source. That was the best 50 bucks I spent EVER. Counter-strike 1.6 (1.5 at the time)

Oddly enough, it was Sim City 4 that gave me a lot of play time for only $20 and I'm still playing it today. I'm still idly sitting by waiting for Cities XL.

Age Of Empires II

25 bucks isn't much for the best game ever.

Also, I agree on Guild Wars.
I don't really consider it to be among the greatest games. But the fact that's you can always jump in when you feel like it makes it so good.

Also:

Total War series
Diablo series
Neverwinter Nights

Almost every single game I have ever purchased. For $50, most games give me at *least* 20-30 hours of enjoyment...compare that to going to dinner, going out, or any other kind of real-world entertainment activity and pc games come off as a pretty sweet deal. I went out a couple weeks ago and the bar tab was $90...yeah.

Warcraft 3: RoC & FT

CoD 4 (it was stolen from me once and I bought it again, still easily worth the money)

I'm sure there's more, but those are the 2 that come to mind right away.

I know these aren't all PC games but oh well

1 Gears of War

2 Metroid Prime

3 Wind Waker

4 Twilight Princess

5 Dead Space

6 Mario Kart DS

7 Metroid Prime 2

8 Metroid Prime Hunters ( online only)

9 Call of Duty 4 ( mostly online but sp was pretty sweet at parts too)

10 Mass Effect

11 SSBM

That's all that I can think of at the moment. No particular order either. Probably got the most time out of any of them with GoW though

the original Ghost Recon, COD 1, Alien VS Predator 2, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Far Cry(I'vewent through those games at least 4-5 times back in the days)

GTA san andreas (just because it's so huge and I had to spend so many hours to do everything)

Battlefield 1942, vietnam and 2 (spend 200+ hours for each one)

Arma: combat operation (once modded, this game is amazing, 100+ hours into it)
