Yup, 4850 is pretty much faster. So if there isnt a big price difference, certainly pick the 4850. =)

Ok. So. I'll pick the HD4850.
Thx evrybody ^^.

And..
I have right now. Gigabyte S-Series Easy Energy Saver Motherboard. GA-G31M-ES2C
and Geforce GT220... with Intel Q6600

If I change it for HD4850. Then is there any need to change motherboard ?.
Or not?

Both are good, but I'd personally opt for 9800GT/GTX. 4850 is a nice choice as well, just my opinion.

U shouldnt need to change the motherboard. I'm pretty sure you do have a PCI-E slot. Without knowing your PC model, etc I wont say 100%, but if you have a pre-built I'd be worried about the power supply too.

You will not need to change the motherboard. As long as you got a PCI-E x16 on your motherboard, go for it :)

GTS 250 is alittle more then a 9800GTX in terms of calling it just a renamed card.

The 4850 is a better card. Plus nvidia seems to be suffering from squealing capacitors, its fairly annoying. My 260 GTX is a wee piggy.

Try Crysis. It always does it in that game. The squealing usually happens when the fps is above 200, so which card is used is not important. My friend's 9600GT produces much less squealing than my 4890 btw.

GTS250 is a 9800gtx+, 1GB version does run cooler but performance wise they are the same, kind of like the older 8800gt and 9800gt...

Smaller size, and die size too, uses less power. Ya, the performance may be like 9800gtx, but to call them just a rebranded card is wrong since there are changes.

Same here, I had a 9800gt for a few months prior, and that thing would hit 70c + no matter what I did, even at 100% fan. Now with my XFX 4850(512mb though) I barely ever get above 58c when my room temp is around 84-88f.. Thats with the fan at around 50-60%. Of course, card temps will always differ according to what cooler they use. So I understand my 9800gt just simply didnt have that great of a cooler.

The HD4850 being faster is a plus but you'd miss out on the Physx technology when getting an Ati card. So get one of the Nvidia GTS 2** cards.

Lol...my fps in crysis, DX 9 all high on my laptop (9600m GT, 2,0 GHz 3mb L2 cache, 3GB ram, windows 7) is 18-22 :) And in really heavy scenes/ice and snow, it drops down to 12-15 :P

actually run OCCT, that program pushes my card harder than furmark. on furmark I get around 65'c but on OCCT it goes past 70'c.

Tell me you didn't mention DX 10.1 (which no games to my memory even use) especially when we're in the age of DX11 coming up!! lol, you can't be serious. DX 10.1 should be ignored..it is definitely NOT a factor in the purchase of a card. I'd say DX11 is more of an factor. But if DX11 is a factor he should wait on an Nvidia DX11 card, that way he'd have DX11 and Physx (which both would compliment each other perfectly)

PhysX is used in...well...can't even think of five games. And, shooting down a tree, a hole in a wall, that doesn't make the game much better. I would skip shooting down a tree for a ATI card that's both cheaper and better. For example: GTX 285 is as the same price-range as HD 5870, even though HD 5870 is even with the GTX 295. Maybe wait a month for the HD5870 to drop to a even lower price, but don't wait for a Nvidia release, that probably will be extremy overpriced.

Same as topic.

Go for HD4850. Cheaper, faster and don't get hot ^_^

My 4850 idles at like 67C =\

Oh, idling at 67C? Well, first, take out ALL dust. Then get a FAN, for gods sake. And your cards fan are probably broken to, since my friends HD 4850 are in full load at 65C.

67c is pretty normal for a reference cooler. It'll run higher on auto fan.

Sooo . . . .

'

The Gts 250 is the same as a 9800GTX+ - - except - - it's a different size, has a different power architecture, uses less power, has better performance, and runs cooler.

'

Yep - sounds the same to me

Sometimes this board is hilarious

why it must be a 9800gt? You can go and look around find sure a gts250 for the same price like a 4850.

The GTS 250 is practically a renamed 9800 GT? Or is it a renamed 9800 GTX? I get them all confused, since Nvidia likes to mix and match with the names.

I think the 4850 runs hot anyway. But I think the Vapor X models run slightly cooler compared to the stock ones.
