The 9600GSO is better than the 9600GT, so I'd rule the GT out.

But I don't know where the 4650 fits in the heirarchy.

Lol and the 9600GT was the same price as the 9600GSO, but the 4650 was 15 dollars more

ok, according to these benchmarks (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/13157-games-christmas-08-gpu-performance-part-ii.html), the 4650 appears to be the worst of the three.

It looks like I might be wrong about the GSO and GT as well. Some places seem to say the GSO is better, others say the GT, and there are a few different revisions of the GSO which makes it hard to determine how it performs. I blame nVidia, with their constant rebranding and confusing naming scheme. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on it.

I would say the 9600 GSO between the two Nvidia, but as an ATI fan, I would say 4650 between the 3.

Yeah, it's a good card, but it's about $130 Cdn, which is over his budget (

He's right, you cant find a 4770 and the 4850's have dropped into the same price bracket anyway, 4770 over 4850 only in situations with a weak psu.
