Which GTX 570 should i get for under 360$

I'm looking to build my first gaming rig around a Core i5 2500k + gtx 570 and was wondering which version is worth buying for 360$ (CAN) and under? Or should i get/wait another graphics card? I'll be playing on 1080p, a 23'' monitor and looking to have high AA (x4aa or more). I'm half nab when it comes to PC so any suggestions are appreciated.

in dx11 fps of a 6970 exceed a 570 almsot all the time there are a few exceptions but their not comon enough to matter.

Get a MSI Hawk 460 1gb version you don't need that much video power for a 23 inch 1080P monitor and if you feel the need for more power grab a 2nd. Just bought my first MSI hawk 460 this morning just waiting for it to be shipped and installed in my rig.Hekynn

You wont be able to unlock it, but at 219.99 its a pretty nice card. Also the 1GB will be enough for any game at 1080P. Just my opinion though.

If you don't want to bother with the unlocking process yourself, you could always get this version of the 6950. It has a switch on it that makes it a 6970 for you automatically. The warranty covers this type of unlock, unlike the other ones in the market should something go wrong, and the price difference is not that much (approx. 11 bucks between the reference one from NCIX and this one, including shipping and taxes).

If you don't want to bother with the unlocking process yourself, you could always get this version of the 6950. It has a switch on it that makes it a 6970 for you automatically. It can still be OC'ed. I believe that the only difference between Powercolor's version of the unlock and the typical BIOS flash unlock is that you need to manually set the 6970 clocks in something like MSI Afterburner.

Unless you give a rats... about physx than go ahead and get the 6950. The lower price puts in you in an easier position to buy a second one (price wise), and even if you dont the price:performance is great while at the same time being a ~top of the line card.

Although just my 2cents, but the 570 is rather quiet for an upper-tier card :) despite oc'ing it on reference cooler.

My 560 is roughly equal to a 480/570 in most games with this overclock, but I'd love to be able to OC a 570 so I can have even more speed AND have a quieter GPU. I love the performance of my card, but it runs hot and loud. Wasn't expecting this from a 560.

Actually the sound levels coming out of my OC'd GTX 560's reference cooler have me seriously considering upgrading to a 570. My 560 is roughly equal to a 480/570 in most games with this overclock, but I'd love to be able to OC a 570 so I can have even more speed AND have a quieter GPU. I love the performance of my card, but it runs hot and loud. Wasn't expecting this from a 560.

How was the sound jump from 460 to 560? I remember the gtx 460 being dead silent @ max oc range, but then I had the nightmare of the original fermi 470 which was a heat monster with a loud fan, painful to the ears but that only lasted for a month. The 570 however is audible, but it has more of a smoother hum so is much easier on the ears. However the loudness is subjective, so Im not sure if it would be quiet to you. I dont put headphones on usually to put it in perspective.

The overvolted, OC'd GTX 460 that I had was nearly silent. I never had to mess with the fan profiles, just left it on default. I'm wondering if the cooler on my 560 isn't making solid contact with the GPU.

I think the 6970 has a 5% advantage or something like that over the stock 570. I cant find anything comparing the OC'd 570 to the 6970. if your into OCing gigabyte states the the factory OC'd 570 @ 780Mhz still has a 10 - 30% headroom for further OCing.

I will say that it doesnt break 60C while playing crysis maxed, with the fans only @ 50%.. so it does run very cool.

NCIX has a sale right now on an EVGA GTX 570 for $300 CAN ($270 after MRI). I've never dealt with their customer service before, but the limited lifetime warranty sounds like a good deal.

Get this one. MSI has voltage tweaking unlocked as well, so you should be able to push around the same clocks. That, along with all the extra goodies, makes it the best value out of all the 570's available, imo.

Yeah, you can use Paypal. Credit card and EMT are also other ways you can buy stuff from there.

As for your inquiry about the Gigabyte card, I would suggest not getting it if you're planning to use SLI/Crossfire. At least for me, the extra heat that comes off one of my cards gets sucked in right to the other, causing its temps to skyrocket. If you ask me, I'd stick to reference if you're going to get a multi-GPU setup, especially when you don't have good airflow in your case.

Gigabyte GPUs overclock VERY well. And they run super cool and quiet. You really can't beat that. I was planning to get one of those if I ever end up selling my GTX 460's.
