I'd say the Seagate may be the fastest, slightly faster seek ( 0.01 ms ) :P , and it also has NCQ, but alas it's also back-ordered.

I'm pretty sure the differences between the two will be small enough for it to not matter. Go with whichever you please. :)

I personally would go for the Hitachi Deskstar because in my opinion the quality of Seagate's drives has been going downhill for years. Over the past couple of years have had to replace an unbelievable amount of Seagate drives, one recently was only a couple of months old.

Hitachi's 7K1000 series drives with 32MB cache are solidly dominating Seagate .10/.11 and WD AAKS/ECS in straight performance. They have been for months now. I don't know if they're really slower in any areas... I believe it's the Hitachi 1TB drive that is able to compete with the WD Raptors in real-world usage.
