which hdd setup should i go with

option 1:

ssd 60-80gb for boot drive

1tb samsung spinpoint f3 for main hdd

2tb wd caviar black for storage

option 2:

ssd 120gb

2tb caviar black

does the samsung drive offer better speeds than the wd to justify buying both? i also am choosing the wd black for storage over a green hdd because i hear bad things about them failing or just being too slow.

Spinpoint and Caviar Black perform very similar. Both are pretty close to reaching the limit of a mechanical hard drive's limitations.

I see little value in getting both unless you really want 3 TB of holding space.
