Uhh, well the mobo has little to do with the card you want if you are not going to SLI or Crossfire. And I would go with the HD 3870 because its slightly cheeper (really cheeper if you buy it at bestbuy) and its actually faster and will be faster after a driver update.

8800 GT is the way to go. Unless you're on a budget go with it. Don't hesitate to google for both and read some review.

8800GT is going down in price, I've been seeing it for as low as $200-$250 over the last week. The HD3870 is fairly set in the $240+ price range, so I'd wait for a good deal on an 8800GT and get that.

Wow, 8800GT $207/free shipping @ Dell.com

and another one

Dell.com...

And there were a bunch more at $240-260 that are no longer active due to running out of stock that I can't be bothered to track down.

If you can get one of these while they're in stock:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/games/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=29&sku=a1348853&dgc=CJ&cid=24471&lid=566643

Buy 2,keep one,then sell one for a good bit more,then PROFIT!!!11!!!1!1!!!

Well, the P35 only supports CrossFire (and a rather poor hash job of it too, with only being able to do x16/x4 (by default), instead of something more uniform like x8/x8, that really hampers performance. Might as well go for an HD 3870 - two if possible. At least some hashed up multi-GPU is better than none.

Hate to break it to you but you just owned yourself, I talked with Dell's live chat before I was about to order two of those today because I flat out don't trust a incompetent company like Dell to update their pages.

It's a rare item so I thought it wise to check and anyway the guy from Dell told me they DO NOT have ANY of those in stock so essentially all you did is pretty much preorder them, the dell guy said he didn't even know when they would get any in, he could at least tell me the 3870's which their site also shows in stock are in fact on a 2 week backorder.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have that thing come xmas. I'd call them and ask them when they are getting them in if I was you at the very least.

Wait for that so I could take advantage of a price-drop? I ordered the 8800 GT at $208 because I wasn't planning on spending more than $250ish

Cool man. You got a nice price. I just didnt read really, just asnwered with what I would do with a single pcie slot. You got a great card none-the-less. I also dont know what card you had last time.

How much do you suppose those dual core GPUs will cost?

Around $500-$550 I would think. 2xHD3870 costs $480 and 2x8800gt cost around $500
