Which is most overated and underrated game ?

According to me the most overated game is :

Manhunt .I admit some people may have liked it because of violence but overall if you look score of 8.3 is just too much for such game .

And the most underated game is :

ct Special forces .I admit storyline is below average .But the overall gameplay weapons is quite good .Score of 5.0 is just too less

for such game

overrated i will choose a game franchise not just a single game...

and that will be GTA, grand theft auto.. the most overrated franchise in gaming in my opinion. and yes ive played them, severely over hyped.

HoMM V - ToE? no, it isn't, I mean it's hard, the AI is cheating (according to GS), it has to get a mediocre score, doesn't it?

I agree, it is the most underrated, even more than Gothic 3.

Overrated: Oblivion and Crysis, but since Crysis is berable, I will say that Oblivion is the champion.

The most overrated game of all time IMO is the original Half-Life. Not the engine or the community, but the game itself.

The most underrated game of all time is Homeworld. Sure it got 9.0s, but nobody cared because they were all about Starcraft. Homeworld is a better game in nearly ever aspect IMO.

Homeworld has nothing to do with the type of RTS that Starcraft is. Homeworld is harder and requires a lot of thinking and it is slower. Starcraft is just an RTS that is based on speed and more people like/play it because it doesn't require as much time.

Bioshock was overrated.

The Witcher, Deus Ex(by GS) was underrated.

Overrated: Half-Life 2. A short shooter attached to a cheap system fueled by DRM and way too many people willing to look the other way.

Second place goes to Diablo. I played the demo for this game and I still think it was one of the lamest things I've ever seen.

Underrated: Anachronox. A sci-fi RPG that became a fantastic swan song for a company that had a habit of biting off more than they could chew. Its too bad they didn't start to really get things together until it was too late.

Second place goes to No One Lives Forever. A cool, funny, and quirky spy action game. Cate Archer is one of my all time favorite video game characters. I'd love to see a movie based on this game.

Overrated: Oblivion (got total bored compare to Jade empire), Far Cry (Difficulty is a pain!), Battlefield 2

Underrated: NFS Most wanted, First Battalion + Expansion.

Terrific art design? Yes. Novel Setting? Possibly.

Awesome gameplay? No. Make that repetetive, incredibly linear, too easy, broken RPG elements and vita chambers.

It's just decent, that's it.

stalker, so you are on chernobyl the story is bad and areas are all about go to the next level

cod4, nice story excellent mutliplayer but all that short totaly linear experiance

mercs 2, not that bad not great but not bad

max payne 2, very short you gonna need to complete it in all difficulties to have fun, which are all about the same and too linear

crysis, the ai in combat looks like a 5.0 game and often bug up connect this with the bugs which is not execptable for a 9.5 and the maps are average no wide jungles!

boiling point if it works you can say Yaiiii it worked and blow up your save games in the ending

assasin creed? ubisoft said how we make a game that is like prince of persia with no monsters and traps and stupid jumping they made assasin creed, masterpiece in its own way but a bit overrated

gears of war, unexistable story you just know we were sitting nice and fine and holes start pop up and bodybuiler monsters try to kill us so we take cover adn every time we stand upt to shoot take hit, even if you aim at someone and wait to stand up you take hit before he even stands up, broken combat and the levels? blow up barrels to create light so you wont get eaten by bats! plz 9.6? very overratted in pc!

Yaiiii, I totaly agree with your psot. Who else agrees that this psot about overatted adn underatted games is execptable? We need more psots like this now at days, they're pretty much unexistable!

Overrated: Oblivion, BioShock, Halo, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War etc.

Underrated: Thief 8) Every Thief game, especially Dark Project.

Are you familiar with System Shock 2? No one who isn't familiar with System Shock 2 can really talk about how good BioShock is.

But to address your points, art design doesn't make a good game, the setting is thematically identical to System Shock 2's and the gameplay, well, it's dumbed down, childish crap.

Overrated - Assassins Creed

Underrated - S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky (not reviewed here yet but most other sites are beating it down with 7's)

I agree somewhat on the first two, but awesome gameplay? You have got to be kidding me! The gameplay is below average by a long shot. Pretty much everything this game has (when talking about gameplay) has been done better in most other FPS games

Overrated: Oblivion, BioShock, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo.

Underrated: Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Fallout, Arcanum, Bloodlines (those 5 by GameSpot. For none of those to get AAA is criminal). Then there's high scoring games that most people don't give enough credit to like Freedom Force, Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey, Homeworld, Heroes 3, Thief and so on.

i ll agree about desperadso but i got to ask about bioshcok you do realize that its an underwter city? that the games isnt about shooting? that not many fps got powers and skills and the ability to hack security bots, what exactly has done better in outher fps?thenewau25
