The Ion Cannon was pretty sweet from Command and Conquer. But I dont know if that is a "unit" . So I would say the Protoss Carrier from StarCraft 1. I love when you have 12 of them and all of the ships are flying everywhere. Very cool.

 Agreed, when I was little I would just throw in cheats so I could build about 20 of them and rush.
Mostly units from Dawn of War, Dreadnoughts especially. Love the way they pick up infantry and flail them around. I'm however, very partial to the Tiger I from Company of Heroes. I'm a big 'fan' of it, and it's big brother, the King Tiger in reality, so I guess it's natural to like it.
how can you have a best unit for total war game it's a mixture of units that dominate the battleground but anyway i like those whit space mariens with the spears in dawn of war dark crusade
My favorite would be the Siege tank. Sure it's vulnerable to air attacks, but the first time I saw that thing plant itself on the ground and fired at something a screen's distance away I had a big grin on my face.
The Monkeylord or the ACU from SupComm. The ACU because when it explodes it takes most of the enemy army with it and the Monkeylord because I can never seem to stop them, they just mow down my base and theres never anything I can do about it.

In the beta, didnt the support Commanders also have a nuclear explosion? Now its just lame and boring. I think the Atlantis is cool. You can fill it up with a bunch of T3 bombers and put it right behind the enemys base and be like... "I Win."Â
