Which is the best/most played/your favourite online game? excluding mmo's

Hi im just wondering what everyones opinion is..

I think for me its cs 1.6 i used to play it every day and used to be the most played..

no other game came close in the sense that you had such opportunity to improve and completely dominate if you were good enough, plus the clans and tournament scene made it more like a sport. CnC generals was also a great one online.

Ive started playing recently and although its great i was thinking about a new online experience, fps or otherwise with a thriving online community.

guild wars (factions and nf)

soldiers front

battlefield 2 (ps2) 

UT series I've played a lot, but the best online game is BF series
