Which is the better game - Battlefield Vietnam or Battlefield 1942?

I am looking into getting either Battlefield Vietnam Redux or Battlefield 1942: The Complete Collection.
I would like to know which one do more people still play online, and which one is the better game with single-player and multi-player.

I'd just go for the complete collection, considering you get Vietnam with it.

Both singleplayers suck. Battlefields are all about multiplayer. Neither have that many players left but 1942 is the better game. Too bad most of the mods that made 1942 my favorite MP shooter are dead.

The Complete Collection is only $10 on Amazon, so just get that. The last time I played 1942 was about a year ago, and there were still active servers, but not many.

Battlefield 1942 (which had a great expansion in "Road to Rome", but EA dropped support for it)

1942 is better imo. The only thing I really liked about BF:V is the radio on the vehicles :P

The single player for both games consists of playing bots on a map and capturing flags (not that fun). And there are still a descent amount of people playing BF1942, as I have been on there recently, although the one I was on had a bunch of cheaters, so watch out for that. But i'm sure you can find a clean server pretty easily.

I kind of like Vietnam, actually, but there's some issues with certain sounds not playing in Vista/Win7 (radio commands, vehicle radio soundtrack, some ambient sounds). ALchemy won't fix it. Nevertheless, since BF1942: The Complete Collection effectively gives you all of what both titles have to offer in one US$10 package, why not grab that? (On another note, I saw BF1942 without expansions and BF:V for the same ten bucks each at the local Wal-Mart. I wonder why they don't just replace both with The Complete Collection instead...less profit, maybe?)

Ya, agreed. The 1942 collection actually comes with BF: Vietnam; its sitting right in front of me.

BF1942 was by far the best Battlefield game ever made. Every game after that was downhill. BF2 had the worst pea shooter guns I have ever used. Man that was infuriating. Desert Combat = one of the best mods ever made.
