my vote goes to WoW. at least 25% of my guild mates said they left FFXI for WoW and have never looked back. as for Guild Wars, my brother plays it, though it does look fun, i wouldnt call it an MMO.

I'm not a fan of mmorpgs anymore but WOW would have to be the best outta that list. It's probally the ebst mmorpg to go for however mainly because everyone seems to play it and you'll find groups.

Guild Wars isn't an MMO. It's CORPG.

And why only those two then? There's much better MMO's than WoW and FFXI like EVE.

Given the recent crapload of newly-released Guild Wars content, I'm playing the game again...and I still think that it is absolutely brilliant. The artstyle, the character building and skillsets, the missions, the PvP - hell, I really enjoy everything in it.

Even so, it isn't exactly a MMO (just a great, unified, online, tactical-RPG), so I'd have to vote for WoW in this thread.

I played them all and have to go with WoW, but don't forget that the new Lord of the Rings one is coming out, and I've heard it's supposed to be pretty good as well.

i wouldnt suggest WoW for loads of reasons like addiction , end game = rep farm etc.

however i would suggest WoW for the fun you'll have while playing it

try out the 10 day free trial on the WoW website and choose for urself

Guild Wars is good but for a beginner i found WOW better

Guild Wars by far. I know it's not an MMO per say, but I think it delivers well, especially in temrs of new content, graphics, sound, options, skills... name it... Do yourself a favor and try both to compare. Pretty sure you like the realism of GuildWars better than the cartoony graphic style of WoW... Plus you won't have to pay the exortion fee that WoW bill.

paying the pusher that is Blizzard.....for your long, strange trip to fantasy land over reality.

You can't find better value for your money than MMO monthly fees. Why are you all taking WoW as the ultimate evil because it has monthly fee? It's not the first or only MMO with monthly fee.

My vote goes to Guild Wars. I know it's not an MMORPG, but I feel it's the best all around choice between those three. FFXI has the deepest and richest experience of the three, but it belongs to an older generation of MMO's, meaning you gotta devote a rather large amount of time to it. WoW USED to be good, but then Blizz had to make more class changes and release the expansion, which ruined everything that was great about the game.

Personally, I play WOW and FFXI. So I would say if you've got the money and time, play both. As to which one is better, I've never and probably won't play Guild Wars. So it would be between WOW and FFXI. Coming from WOW, FFXI felt a little primitive. The UI isn't as simple as WOW's. Also the game seems a little bit harder than WOW, and you have to party alot more in FFXI, whereas alot of WOW you can solo. Graphics wise, WOW wins, as FFXI was designed for the PS2, so it carries graphical limitations as a result. Gameplay wise, you just can't beat WOW's UI. Very easy to use. Storyline, it's about a tie. WOW has a lot of backstory to play off of. Whereas FFXI, just like every other FF installment, uses a fresh storyline for it's games. However as anyone who has ever played a FF game can attest, Square Enix's stories are always fantastic and brilliant. I cannot really choose between the too. It all really is based off your style of play, and what you are looking for in an MMORPG. Like I said though, if you have the time and money, play both.

Also, if you're looking for a MMORPG with good PVP (Player vs. Player), I would wait for Warhammer Online. WOW's PVP is decent. I haven't gotten a chance to try FFXI's PVP yet. As I understand it's limited. I'm still only a LVL 7 WHM at the moment.

EVE is total crap, it takes forever to do anything in that game. I loved the old Earth & Beyond before money greedy EA shut it down.

Pretty intersting, I had to too myself I loved FFXI Online, very deep and slow pace kinda game but the farther you go the better it gets......Tho I really have to try out Guild Wars, free online is my choice, and it's a pretty good scores on the reviews too.

Yeah, I thought about picking up LOTRO over the weekend, but I had to wait and see if it's the type of MMO/RPG kind of game 1st.

gah, so many other quality MMORPGs out there than those three.

Here: Everquest 2 (like WoW but better) Dungeons & Dragons Online (more like GW but less paying $50 for new content and better combat) or Vanguard if you like spending 30 minutes walking somewhere and feeling alone in a virtual world.
