which monitor to use?

Hi, i have an ati x1950 xtx but my monitor only can handle 1280 x 1024 so i am going to buy a new monitor and i wanted to know what you recommend that has good resolution and LCD.

1680*1050 is good for a 20 Inch Wide Screen monitor

1280*1024 for a 17-19 Inch Normal monitor
