Even though I will probably end up getting both, which is better (for multiplayer) IYO?

I've already played the hell out of CoD4, already own MW2, and have already decided that I don't like WaW (Played the open Beta). What's wrong with the multiplayer of the older CoD games? I've played old muliplayer games that I would say are still great (Q3A, CS, Halo: CE, Diablo II)Call of duty 2 is way better. I wouldn't buy either for the multiplayer to be honest, go for cod4 for that.

never played CoD 2 multi, but 1st rocked, nowdays server list most probably will be lower when it's released of course, but it really depends on what style you love, don't forget CoD 2 has no health packs unlike original game, you need to stay under cover for few sec if you're injured - it really depends on how you like to play the game, old school or modern one (actually I wouldn't say health packs is old school - just look at FEAR Combat :D )
At this point, which would you say has more vanilla servers (servers that don't run mods/custom maps and do little - nothing to change the original game)?never played CoD 2 multi, but 1st rocked, nowdays server list most probably will be lower when it's released of course, but it really depends on what style you love, don't forget CoD 2 has no health packs unlike original game, you need to stay under cover for few sec if you're injured - it really depends on how you like to play the game, old school or modern one (actually I wouldn't say health packs is old school - just look at FEAR Combat :D )

CoD 2 rocks. I slayed that badboy on veteran. Felt like a champ. FunFun game. I still have it.

Hell yeah bud, I remember when COD2 came out it felt so good hehe, the atmosphere and graphics i was really impressed with.
Also I was in the hospital for 2 weeks at the time the demo was out and that demo alone made the time in the hospital not nearly as bad as it could have been. Since I was in there for awhile a friend or family member brought me my labtop that could just barely play the demo on high (I think that was the last new game it could play before it was to old).
[QUOTE="PredatorRules"]At this point, which would you say has more vanilla servers (servers that don't run mods/custom maps and do little - nothing to change the original game)? probably the newest, but that doesn't mean anything, CoD 2 may have more modded servers unlike original game which gamers prefer to stay that game as original as most possiblenever played CoD 2 multi, but 1st rocked, nowdays server list most probably will be lower when it's released of course, but it really depends on what style you love, don't forget CoD 2 has no health packs unlike original game, you need to stay under cover for few sec if you're injured - it really depends on how you like to play the game, old school or modern one (actually I wouldn't say health packs is old school - just look at FEAR Combat :D )

oh sorry i didnt read it carefully.
cod 1 made me rocks when i played it first time in pc.
it was my first shooting game and my mind goes to it.
Why do you always have to go off topic when it comes to CoD? He asked between CoD 1 and 2. Have you even played them? I doubt it. To answer the OP's question, if you want a single player campaign go for CoD1, if you want multiplayer go CoD2. If you want both go for CoD2. If I were you I would just get both games :P, they shouldn't be expensive nowadays.cod 5 mordern warfare
cod 6 mordern warfare 2 and no more than that.

COD 5 wasn't Modern Warfare. it was World at War, yet another WW2 game. Not to mention the OP asked which of the FIRST TWO, unless i'm wrong and the number system changed from 5,6,1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10 then the 5th and 6th installments into a series isn't included when asking about the first 2.cod 5 mordern warfare
cod 6 mordern warfare 2 and no more than that.

I just assumed that you didn't have cod4. The last time I played cod 2, there were about 15 people all on one server and that was it. That's why I would recommend against the older games if you were going to be playing multiplayer.
I think I'll get CoD2 since a) it's more recent, and has some of the little nuances that I'm already accustomed to (recharging health, sprinting, two weapon system w/ instant grenade throws) and b) it's more recent, and most likely has more player/vanilla servers.
Good idea?
If graphics and familiar gameplay are that important for you, then yeah, cod2 is the better choice. But if you are considering even glancing at single player, I would choose CoD 1 any day. Not that CoD2 single player is bad- it just isn't as epic.I think I'll get CoD2 since a) it's more recent, and has some of the little nuances that I'm already accustomed to (recharging health, sprinting, two weapon system w/ instant grenade throws) and b) it's more recent, and most likely has more player/vanilla servers.
