Samsung is the leader in LCD technology

Go with the best model you can afford there

Remember that if you get a set that "enhances" the picture by making it smoother you're going to want to shut that off for gaming because it'll cause lag

i doubt that. maybe high end plasmas. but not a cheap 42` panny i seen for 989. alot of the buyer reviews i read really turned me off plasmas in the 1098 price range.

If it's purely for gaming, Samsung and Panasonic just released a few 42in 720p Plasma sets between $600 and $800. Best Buy has most of them for 80 dollars off at the moment, I believe. Also, don't be fooled by the prices. Due to the 3D sets, prices are bound to drop a tad. Just stay away from brands like Dynex, Insignia, Westingtonhouse, and Vizio. People will claim Vizio provides good bang for the buck, but I've only ever heard piss poor things about their customer service.

I'm shopping around for a 19-26in lcd, but if they sold plasmas in that size, there's not question i'd go with one. I've stated before that I didn't always like how plasmas performed in different lighting environments, but especially for gaming, the picture is immensely more natural and smooth. I only ever gamed on a 50in plasma, and going to lcd takes some adjusting--the picture may "always" look good, but I really started noticing the artifacts that are associated with lcds. Ghosting, lag, etc. Playing games just feels different. I'd imagine that the problems with lcds only increase with size.

wrong people complain about misconceptions with plasma, need to give LCD the same respect. I've owned 2 LCD's and I have never noticed a lag with anything, and to be perfectly honest ghosting only exists with cheap LCD's with are gag a riffic. 120hz, 2ms on a 52" produced little if zero motion issues. Thing of the past with recent/new LCD tech. I like Plasmas, awesome picture...dad owns a panny. That being said other then black levels, I would put my sets PQ up against his. I got LCD though because when my TV sits, wouldn't give a plasma its proper due. The LCD hate (This is not directed towards you fyi) by some is unwarrented and quite honestly BS. A well calibrated quality LCD will produce an amazing picture.

I don't hate lcd--I mentioned I'm purchasing one fairly soon, as plasmas don't come in the size I'd like. But, I recently tried a 40in, I believe, in one of those fancy shmancy stores within Best Buy and, while you are right that they don't inhibit the lag they used to, the overall picture(lag/motion/contrast) just doesn't have the quality of plasma. I used to defend lcds not too long ago, but now that I've had some time with a few, I've changed my mind.

I don't hate LCD either, but the two in my house suck and the premium you pay for a large LCD's that come close to plasma quality isn't worth it in my opinion unless you have a very bright room where glare can be a big issue. (Oh, and I have an LCD based projector which I like a lot -it does have its own issues, but LCD based LCD's are a performance/value leader in the projector market).

I was looking at the LE32B550 myself. The reviews I found are all good, the picture quality is supposedly superb but I could not find much info about any inputlag. In the specs the response time is 4 ms I think but it doesn't mean that much, it's always different post processing. It does have a game mode though. But how fast it is I am unsure of.
