Well, Dead Space 3 was one of the most anticipated game of 2013. And unfortunately it don't satisfy the fans expectation. Its turn out that EA make Dead Space 3 a shooting action. The horror , thrill and suspence  is completely gone. Though its still enjoyable. But my question is which game of this series you like most ? I love the old Dead Space. For me Dead Space > Dead Space 2 >>>> Dead Space 3

For me DS2 is the best as it had the balance of action vs horror spot on. DS1 is 2nd best and DS3 brings up the rear.

Dead Space 1 had a more sense of dread, eeriness, and fear to it. You were very isolated, on the ship. Just you, only you. That tension.

Dead Space 1 is one of the best games of this generation.

Dead Space 2 does not exist in this dojo.

I sort of want to play Dead Space 3 because it looks pretty and I like The Thing, but it seems to be DS2 on steroids... I don't think I'll bother.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are pretty even for me personally, DS3 not to far behind.

Though I've only played the first two, I definitely liked 2 more.

The action set pieces didn't take away from the overall sense of dread and atmosphere, Isaac was more fleshed out as a character, the environments and enemies were much more creative and diverse, and it was an overall better game.

I liked 1 and 2 about equally, and I suspect that I will like Dead Space 3 just as much, if not more.

I know that some people get themselves very worked up over the Dead Space series, but I thought the first 2 were fun and interesting games, and in the end that's all that really matters to me. I don't worry (or care) if it's not as scary as the first game, I just want it to be fun and look good graphically.

Dead Space 2. Almost perfect blend of action-horror, amazing scripted sequences, great environment and enemy variety, and a narrative that's actually held well together. Though it is different to Dead Space 1, and I can see why people might rather that even if I consider that game more in line with Doom 3 meets Resident Evil 4.

2 > 1 > 3

Dead Space 2 had the best flow, best scenes, best fights, ect.  The only problem was it was a quite a bit more linear than 1.  Other than that it's better than 1 in every way.

Who ever play Dead Space 3 should agree with me that the suspance of the game is completely lost. And for removing the suspence and horror from the game EA realy work hard. They add co-op mode and when you play this game each and every level will remind you that the level is designed not for single player, its designed for Co-op. As a lover of horror genere this Dead Space 3 is not really work for me.

To be honest I never knew when it was about to end, just when you think you've done it all, the game find a way to surprise you. Even if it wasn't scary, it was very atmospheric and an incredibly fun time.

I like it more than 2, though Dead Space 2 was excellent as well (didn't like the generic personality they gave Isaac, should have left him mute), and I like faaaaaaar more than 3.

agree with this.

the first had a story and environments that created genuine tension. and it didn't lay it on too thick which helped with the tension and immersion.

the second was slicker but at the expense of the atmosphere

I haven't playe the 3rd, but I will. However I will have to say that so far, 1 is my favorite because of this ^^. Even if it suffered from more technical bugs than its sequels, like mouse lag.

Dead Space 1 was the best because I had no idea what to expect, It was the sleeper hit of the year and was ground breaking with no hud, all you had was your suit which showed you air levels and health and the holographic video system, brilliant. Then EA knocked on the door.

It's a good game, technically very sound at what it does. But it's nowhere near the best DS game. DS1 has almost unrivalled atmosphere. It was such a good game when it released, and still is honestly

I remember I played it on the PS3 a few months after it released and it was on sale for X-mas, I got it cos I had vouchers and the case looked cool and I honestly hadn't heard much about it before hand. When I played it I was shocked by how awesome it was. It's one of those games that borrows heavily from other media and nails it with its own style. Such fond memories of that game

Havent played the third one, but I think the first is over all the best. Although I do like the 2nd one it had far too much repeated content. Didnt they use the "dead body to pass the security door" trick like 3 or 4 times? Great the first time, lazy aferwards

My Oppinion:

DS 1 By far. It had the best pacing, by FAR the best story, and the bits and pieces you get of who you play as can be unsetteling to say the least. It alst excelled in pacing and atmosphere.

DS2 comes in second, they pretty much ruined Clarke within the first 4 minutes and overall the plot was a mess. It had less of atmosphere but you still felt isolated at times, I did NOT like the lame action sequences, and Die Hard blueprint in this world (see: all that which happens to Issac). However when everything was said and done, the game still kept most of its identity. Basily it was still a very good game. Although too much action.

DS3 is well... Where to start. THe overall production values are lower, it is not a major complaint from me, but both DS 1 and 2 looked and sounded better. Im still in orbit in DS3, but so far there is little in common with the first DS. and only vaguely the second. THis game feels more like a third person Doom, it is the best way to explain it, a ton of Necroes you (and maybe someone else) a backpack of ammo, and pretty much none stop holding in the trigger.

The strangest part is that even in SP DS3 feels and looks (always reminds you) that the game was supposed to be be playied at co-op. It is still a good game judging by the framework. But there is no thrills, no chills, and near none atmosphere. This is not even an action game in the world of Dead Space, this is an action game which compromises the world of Dead Space. (especially if you were interrested in the story of DS 1 or DS2).

Now that is all when compared to the other DS games, as I stated it is a competent game on its own, but I feel that this game would have had less of my negatives, if it was a spinoff, focusing solely on the crew of a militery ship investigating. And that ways had created the possability of still making a suspenceful game, and an action series in the same universe.

both DS 1 and 2 looked and sounded better.

Maddie_Larkin

I'm sorry but I have to disagree on this part completely. DS3 has easily the best visuals of all 3 games, the lighting is phenomenal at times and the whole game looks terrific. Also if you can't hear that DS3 is the best sounding dead space then you either don't know what good audio is or you're deaf. DS3 has insane audio, everything sounds fantastic in it

I loved Dead Space 1 for its focus on roaming a deserted spaceship. There's something to be said for a game that takes place on a spaceship rather than a planet's surface since you get that feeling of no escape and the idea of haunted vehicles has long been a staple of traditional horror. I also loved that sequence with the approaching USM Valor crashing into the Ishimura. At the moment, I'm really liking Dead Space 3. I know people are complaining about it having the feel of an action game but so far it has all the elements of survival horror that I've come to expect from the series. Bring on Dead Space 4!

One of the creepiest moments I've seen in a horror game in recent years:

I love Dead Space 1, it has the best story of the three and is the scariest, but 2 had tighter pacing and better environmental variety whereas 1 started to get a bit repetative at times. The scripted sequences in 2 were better than anything in Uncharted, really thrilling, and then it was back to the tense stuff. If only the action sequences in 3 were as good.

I still like 3 quite a bit. But the combat seems to have gotten a bit worse. They didn't spend a lot of time setting up enemy waves properly and it's all a bit rushed. I do love the visuals and environments though, maybe not the best ones in the series but I find myself going "wow" a lot walking around. The graphics got a big bump.

But the Audio is delicious in 3. It's almost perfect. Just marred by constant radio chatter and poor voice acting

I haven't completed DS3 yet, but so far I'd say DS2 > DS1.

DS1 had better bossfights, atmosphere and setting. But DS2 had better anything else basically.

Dead Space 2 was more refined. In that sense, it's the better game when it comes to polish. The essence of the series lies within the original Dead Space. All the key elements like feeling of desolation, tension, and atmosphere were at its highest in Dead Space 1. I thought Dead Space 1's last boss was bad though hehe.  I preferred Dead Space 2's ending, even though some people hated it.

I also feel like the series has handled replay value very well with the extensive upgrades, exploration and various suits you can find/buy/unlock, so hopefully DS3 is the same so I can enjoy a second solo playthrough as much as a co-op playthrough I plan on doing.

+1 I totally agree. I'll be honest, I was skeptical about the co-op design added to Dead Space series, but as it turns out, it isn't so bad as I initially thought. The deep weapon customization is silly fun and interesting, and after your first or second playthroughs (solo) on the hardest difficulties, you'll want to revisit Dead Space 3 for more outings to find more "secrets" in the game. It's an OCD-gamer's dream. :P
