If I buy them used they are both $50. Both have overwhelmingly positive reviews, so I don't know what to do. I like the look of the Grados a bit more (not as giant), but the Senns are probably more comfortable. Anybody have thoughts?

Don't look at it from a sound quality perspective, since they're both very competent headphones. Consider instead their utility. One is over ear and one is on-ear, meaning the Sennheisers will block out more ambient noise (and let out less noise, as well). The Grados will let your ears breath more, since they're not over-ear, but they leak more sound both in and out. Consider your application, then make a decision.

Consider also that the HD555's are, supposedly, able to be modified to sound like the pricier HD595s, giving you a very good value for the money (though it'll void warranties and returns).

Good luck,

Boz

I will be using them for pc gaming, as well as walking around campus, and some amateur music making. The majority of the time I'll probably be outside with them and walking around. The Grados seemed to me like they'd be better for this purpose, since they look more lightweight, though I could be wrong.

It's commonly said that the Grado headphones sound signature is best suited for rock-based music. And I'd be inclined to agree (though they sound great for all kinds of music).

I would go for the Sennheisers, simply because I've never heard those Grado's in person, but I both are highly recommended. On-ear is better IMO.

Ended up going with Grado after a lot of research. And bought new for the sake of warranty, so with that factored in the Senns would have really been a lot more expensive.

Though I think anything will be better than the broken Bose Triports I'm parting with. Good headphones, but so fragile.

Strange, the Senns are usually $80, but being Amazon the prices change fast. Anyways enjoy your new headphones!
