Looking at your choice of processor and card , id guess that your building on a budget. And if your biggest priority is gaming , ddr3 ram is too expensive for the perfomance increase at the moment. Also i think 4 gigs of ram is not really required . You would be better off spending that extra money on a better card. I'd personally take the 8400. You should also post ur other parts (especially psu) and their prices .Mtnes

Well DDR3 doesent giva ANY advantage unless you plan to overclock above 4.5Ghz! Also i would recommend a Q6600 with an 8800GT, 2GB's 800Mhz RAM & a Arctic Freezer Pro 7! :D

But if you need to save money swap the Q6600 for an E8400 (if its cheaper where you live)!

Out of those three I would go with #2, it would most likely perform just a little better in most games. If you are on a budget, get rid of the ddr3 and stick with ddr2, you can probably save about $100. Put that extra money towards a 8800gts 512 and then get whichever CPU(Q6600 or E8400) is cheaper.
