I am planning to buy a gaming laptop and I want to know. Which of these processors will give the smoothest gameplay?

Core 2 Quad Q9100 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 12Mb L2 Cache)

Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 12Mb L2 Cache). Am I right in thinking this one has only two cores?

Also which is best for the smoothest gameplay? Windows Vista Ultimate or Home Premium because I have had mixed reviews about it. Cheers.

Q = Quad The second is obviously higher performance, whether it is worth the price is another matter. Ultimate is premium with extra bells and whistles but as you can turn them off if you please and they're the same underneath they will give you the exact same performance.

All versions of Vista will offer the same performance. I bought Ultimate and found that it has absolutely nothing I needed over the Home Premium version.

I would suggest to get the first processor out of the two and overclock it. Then skip vista completely and go with windows 7 if you want a new OS.
