I currently have a Acer Aspire M5500-1E77.
That means: q6600, 8600 gt and as psu: a ATX-250PA (1PF).
I'm planning to replace my 8600gt with a 8800GT 512MB.

I'm just wondering which PSU I should buy. I can't find any specifications on the internet of psu's and I don't really know much about computers. Could somebody help me with this?

CoolerMasters are great.

Cheap, reliable, quiet and efficent.

I have a Extreme Power Duo 650W, and its whisper quiet, and well ventillated - not to mention it was cheap.

And which specifications should the psu have, if I want an 8800gt 512MB to run at its full potential?

650w but 1000w so you wont have to buy a psu when a better compont comes out. i have a 8800gts + the new intel e8400.

I'm not planning to upgrade any further, so a 650W should be enough? And I read some stuff about 20+A on a 12V-rail or something like that. How many amps should that 12V-rail have for a 8800gt? And does it matter how I connect the components to the psu?

Corsair VX450W will be more than enough for your system and it has enough amps on +12V rail

Modular means that you can remove the cable you don't use from the PSU

How much watt and amps should it have exactly? Because i just want to buy a psu that is available in one of the local stores. And here in Belgium, I can't get that Corsair VX450W...

If you want a PSU for your future 8800GT than 22A on +12V rail and 400w (Brand name only: Corsair; Seasonic; Antec; Silverston; FPS Fortron; PC Power and Cooling).

Add up the watts all your components use, then add about 150 at least to that (I'd go higher), and select an 80 Plus rated PSU.

http://www.80plus.org/manu/psu/manu_psu.htm

And make sure it has cables / connectors for any cards that need them.

Quick question since its on this topic.

If you need 20 Amps on the +12V rail will a PSU with 2 +12V rails with 17 on each not work?
