I recommend The Orange Box, It includes the HL2 series, TF2 and Portal, for a great price.

I bet you are going to play TF2 for a long time.

Yeah I probably would, but I heard it has some issues with windows 7.

Counterstrike: Source is a great game and has a large player base. TF2 is nice as well and don't forget about Left for Dead 1 and 2. All play a lot different and it really depends on what you like more in a game.

I'd go with Counter-Strike: Source too. It has a very large community.

No offense to the people here playing CSS but the community is full of kids, hackers and arrogant douchebags. (Personal opinion) Team Fortress 2 is quite a different game and a longer lasting experience while the community generally is above 16 also the gameplay is better

However everything in this post is personal opinions.

Every online game community has those people; At least in any FPS that is popular, including TF2. CSS and TF2 are both great.

Some servers use that plugin, others don't.

All 3 games are different.

I've been playing CS:S for a LONG time.

Recently I bought L4D2 which was really easy for me.

And now I'm on a 3 day trial on TF2, which looks most interesting by far, but I really suck at it,guess I'm too used to CS:S.

For TF2, always aim for the enemies body unless you are a sniper with the Rifle/Huntsman or a Spy with the Ambassador. Because those are the only three weapons that award bonus damage for hitting the enemy in the head. The rest of the weapons do the same damage no matter where you hit them.

Get Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead 1/2. Then you will be a very happy gamer.

EDIT: Forgot to add Portal to the list as well. xD

Get the Valve Complete Pack. It's on sale on Steam right now for something like $60 or $70 which means that for the price of a single game you get Valve's entire catalogue. You'd have to be a fool to pass that up if you've never played any of the Valve games before.

Definitely this, it's an awesome deal. You get a lot of really good games for the price of a single console game.

It depends what you want CSS can be played casually but is most enjoyed when you are in a clan and scrim other clans and most of the community has been playing the game for a very long time(since the 90s with 1.6) so be sure to wear a helmet so you wont get headshotted :P And once they fix all the mods there will be countless of mods to choose and have fun with. TF2 plays casually you could scrim but imo it isnt as fun as css when scrimming and teamates can really ruin the experience when you got "team sniper" or 0 medics on your team L4D1 and 2 I wouldn't suggest you don't get your monies worth and probably desert the game in a month or two and play it from time to time. But thats just me since i completely despise the game. But if you like shotguns and zombies go for it :P The Orange box is your best bet youll get more bang for your buck with 4 single player games and TF2 If you want TF2 then just get the orange box.
