Which Total War game should I get?

So I really want to pick up one of the Total War games, and I'm torn between Empire and Medieval II. I feel like I would enjoy the setting of Empire a lot more, but Medieval II is cheaper. Which one plays better and which would you recommend?

Also, don't say Rome. I'm not interested in that setting at all.

It's a shame that you're not open to Rome: TW, because I personally think that it's the best of the series. I'd go with Medieval out of those two choices. I hated Empire with a passion.

Rome TW is still the best in the series but out of your choices, go for Medival II.

The latest installment in the Medeival: Total War series. Not sure what it is, but I paid 5 Euros when I was in Portugal for it when it was in the bargain bin and got at least 20 hours out of it. It was a store that knew little to nothing about video games, because The Golden Compass was in the most popular section. -__-

I would get Medival 2 if you want a more melee combat. Napolean is pretty much the same as Empire but with some fixs. To all the Empire haters it works perfectly now and the Warpath DLC is outstanding

Medieval 2 with the Kingdoms expansions is just GREAT! Plus it offers alot of excellent mods, like Stainless Steel and Third Age TW.

Actually, if you are willing to consider this, I'd go for it. Midieval was great and all, but I prefered Shogun's setting.

In my opinion, Napoleon is easily... easily... the best Total War game ever. (Personally, I'm in love with the campaign map - it's just beautiful.)

Medieval 2 and Empire are both AAA titles, go for either one man, it really comes down to what time period you like more.

Go for NTW! It's the best TW game so far, in my opinion. But if you dislike the gunpowder era go for Medieval II. I own and love both.
