Pretty much the only thing different about brands is the warranty and step up program. EVGA has lifetime warranty and step up program, BFG and XFX both offer lifetime warranties too. As for which card to get that depends on how much you want to spend. Any 9 series card from a 9600gt upwards is decent so just get the best one you can afford, maybe see if there's a factory overclocked one for a decent price. To be honest, you'd be better off putting a GTX 260 or something similar in though with the rest of your specs.

Yea a 9800gt 1Gb for $165 is pretty good. Check this out for a comparison of the 2 (and many others), ther are quite a few games benchmarked there for you to look through. As you can see the GTX 260 is a fair bit more powerful, although a 9800gt is still a decent card. Depends how much you wanna spend, but if you do get a GTX 260 make sure it's the 216 core version.

all the diff companies release the same hardware usually, just the extras such as customer support or whatever that comes with it, i usually just go for BFG just for the hell of it, but all the different companies are usually the exact same, unless they state different clock speeds or something in the hardware description.
