Ok, I'm having a hard time deciding on what video card(s) to buy. I run a Q9450, 780i MoBo and have just upgraded to a Samsung 24" monitor from an old 19". Anyway, I was hoping to get a few opinions. Which would be a better performer: one 9800 GX2 or two 9800 GTX's in SLI? After mail in rebates both options are very close to the same price. Any opinions, or is there an option I'm not thinking of?

well the GX2 is pretty much beating the life out of most cards in the benchmarks and if i have enought money i would take it with out a moments thought, also there is always the option of going quad sli in the future upgrade. but i looked at it and it looks big. also i am not to sure about the temps its going to run at and if you thinking about Overclocking it it would be sweet than a strawberry cheesecake....then again if you had something that powerful in your machine.....i think you would not need to do that.

soo my vote is for the GX2 :D

According to this...

...the 2 9800GTX cards will out perform a single 9800GX2 card in Crysis...but only by about 5FPS. Is it worth the extra money and power consumption of running an SLI rig? Prolly not. Best to go with the 9800GX2.
