I bought it off Steam today and I don't see what's so horrible about it. I think smaller matches work better for this game, and even though the matchmaking system definitely isn't better than dedicated servers, it gets the job done. I'm actually enjoying multiplayer in this game more than COD4 because of all the different killstreaks and such.

while the killstreaks are fun the grenade launchers, rpgs, constant nade spam, and the knife kit are just plain stupid.

I enjoy the game a lot actually, the online multiplayer is loads of fun for me. I, however, own if for the 360 and never played MW1 for PC so I don't know how much greener the grass really was.

I quoted because i totally agree :) the smaller matches are better for me, i dont like matches with alot of people, the matchmaking is a nice idea, but it often takes some times to find a server to play, as for the killstreaks? Well i played cod4 for a while, but after a while the gameplay kinda bore me. However all those new stuff made the multiplayer much more fun than cod4 and with more options!!!

i have only one gripe with tis game and that is the lack of dedicated servers, it sometimes takes a while to find a game and even then it say like 1/12 games found, i went to my friends house and he has it on xbox360 and it said something like 40/50 servers found. the difference is taht the 360 doesnt have the option of dedicated servers so it doesnt matter for them, but we have a better alternative that isn't being used. With that said the gamew is still wicked sick end rant....

I personally love the game, but this is coming from a MW2 Knifer. (No, not Care Package. Care Package is so weak compared to D.Eagle Tactical Knife) I must say, that after a while, I have gotten into the game so much that i can put in 3 hours of Multiplayer without noticing sometimes. Its very addicting and easy to get into. The Nuke, to me, feels more like a goal than an actual weapon. Nowadays when i knife on maps like Favela, I am almost garunteed Nuke, but to me its more of a way to learn survival than anything.

by me playing the way I do, all this talk of grenade spam, Care Package knifing, and Plane attacks never bother me. half the time i can get enough cover to never be touched by either. I am worried about the Soldier Level Cheating. its obvious that if i can run a football field through bullets and knife some in the head the guy tenth prestige, He obviously needs to play through more. Maybe feel what us other players feel who actually earned the rank of 70 and Prestige Above.

for anyone who wonders, I have played MW1, and the topic of Dedicated Servers did bother me a bit, but so far I haven't had too many problem. still nowhere the quality of latency that COD4 and TF2 can offer, but its acceptable.

Don't hate it coz I never played the game but that's because I couldn't justify paying more for a very short single player content and reduced multiplayer features. I'm sure its a decent game though.

I have my complaints about MW2, but those complaints are about the game itself and could be applied to all the versions, not just the PC version.

As far as the PC version goes, I actually like IWnet. It works for this game. I played WAW on the PC and the multiplayer experience was very inferior to MW1 which I played on the X360, and also MW2 which I have for PC. The reason was because all the dedicated servers had the most insane set-ups for games. Like having 64 players on maps meant for 8v8 max. Not fun. Or how a lot of servers had custom experience bonuses such that it was more than possible to breeze through 10th prestige in a few days. Then you also had deathmatches that had infinite kill limits set to last for 20 minutes, and server rules that forbade any perks or weapons that the people running it considered "cheap" (I saw servers that would kick you for using half the stuff in the game...wtf?). Sometimes you would try to connect to a server only to have to sit through five minutes of downloading a map only to find that the server had changed maps. Then you downloaded another map for five minutes before getting to play on some really stupid map or mod.

You don't get any of those problems with IWnet and as a result the game comes off much better. Normally I'd agree that the loss of dedicated servers is a big deal in PC games, but I think it's the ideal set-up for COD because the games are really meant to be played in a very particular way only.

My only real complaint about the PC version is that the optimization could have been better. It's kind of dumb that I was able to run WAW maxed at 1920x1200 yet had to tone down the settings on MW2 despite lowering the resolution to 1600x1080. I'll admit the game looks a little better, but it doesn't look that much better.

I enjoy it, its fun.

It just has a terrible online system, but 80% of the time I'll be in a game and owning it up.

I like the smaller matches too. One thing I DIDN'T like about dedicated servers was how hard it was to find a natural match, meaning no server implemented tweaks. I don't run into much lag, or many hackers. Problems I have with the game are independentof the dedicated server problem. Either way I'm alright with it.

The campaign was intense and well designed for action, but I wouldn't say the greatest single player experience. What's the big deal?

I got it for Christmas, and its a good game but it has glaring flaws. My personal pet peeves about multiplayer are how some of the killstreak unlocks are poorly balanced (chopper gunner on hardcore is near constant spawn killing), the increased speed "glitch" with the kill streak device in your hand, and lag spikes, the magnitude of which I never had in COD4. But the selection of guns, maps, and close-knit action makes up for the flaws for the most part.

Playing it at the moment and loving it. Single-player was meh, but it was fun whilst it lasted. Multiplayer, however, is simply awesome. Same level of addiction I got with MW1, but it is still flawed.

First thing, lag. Half the time, you will be in some game with a stupid amount of it. It really is the most disappointing thing about the game. Second, matchmaking. Playing by yourself you can join games in a matter of seconds. But with a party, it instantly becomes a pain in the arse. Friends getting errors cropping up causing them to instantly get kicked out the game, being forced into seperate games and other pains. Thirdly, hacks. A rather rare occasion, but it still happens. It instantly crushes you, but no worries, it will probably be over in the next minute due to his aimbot picking up 3 kills a second and ending with an o-so-glorious nuke. I also hate nukes but meh, happens not alot.

Overall, the gameplay just makes up for the flaws, resulting in some good shtuff :D

While it isn't the greatest FPS I've ever played, I didn't dislike it. Infact it had small parts that I thought was pretty nifty, for instance the Astronaut's point of view.

I don't hate the game but some elements to it do get annoying very fast. I would say I hate the whole IW.NET thing. The amount of times I just wanted to go to another map or avoid a hacker but get put back into the exact same game 20 times in a row frustrates the hell out of me.

True...there should be a general vote where everyone can vote to kick a hacker out (or an annoying noob tuber, lol). The other day, both team knew one was using an aimbot...he had 95 kills with 2 deaths...and there was no way to kick him out...
