Who uses wireless 360 controller on PC?

I am thinking about getting the wireless 360 controller bundle with the USB dongle to use it on PC. I want to know if it works just fine if the receiver isnt directly in sight of the controller? While gaming my controller is pretty much hidden under the desk.

Secondly is it possible to use the 360 controller as a remote for media players?

I use one all the time. Works perfectly. Don't know about the media center though.

Okay then will be getting one soon. The media center control doesnt really effect my decision to buy so will search on it later.
