it seems like a lot of pc gamers dont like the halo franchise for some reason. personally i think halo was the best game ever and halo 2 was the 3rd best game ever (on xbox). warcraft III was 2nd. playing halo 2 with mouse and keyboard sounds like a lot of fun to me, how many of yall are gonna be playing. also when will halo 3 come out for pc. 3 years after 360 version prolly?
Meh. Halo has its place on Xbox, but the PC already has it's flagship FPS's, imo. Just seems like a cash grabber game.xcryonicx

Well, since I fell asleep while playing Halo 2 on my friends xbox360 I dont think I will buy it, even if I had Vista.
Its just not that good of an FPS for PC. Sure, its good on console but that doesnt give a game any credibility as far as I am concerned when it crosses over to PC.
I heard that most DX10 games will be DX9 compatible at least for the time being. Is this going to be the case with Halo 2? Or is MS making it a DX10 only game?

its not direct 10 only you can still play the game with a direct 9 card but the problem is you have to have vista to run the game i don't know why

Halo 2 won't have any DX10 effects at all, no DX10 card necessary to play it on all it's glory (Not saying much...).
The Halo franchise is mediocre compared to some of our PC First Person Shooters. If it were on XP I may, but when PCZONE played it at some event, they said dont get your hopes up. Microsoft may improve it a bit by then of course.
I don't know if I will pick up halo 2 on pc. I already have vista so that isn't the problem. The real problem is that I have completed the game on the xbox (I haven't played it online though), so would it really be worth, for me, getting it on pc to?
Where the hell did you get $500 for Vista? Vista basic is only $99 OEM. Even though I probably won't be playing Halo 2 for PC, I *definitely* wouldn't play it on the X-Box...
I have not played Halo since it first came out for pc I played it alot but never fell inlove with it BUT that will not stop me from Playing the next one even if Halo goes to Vista My rig is all ready to convert Vista update adviser says im good to go i wouldnt dream of goin vista just for Halo now if TF2 came out for vista only well then i would have to upgrade :)
Maybe when I get vista but at this stage I'm not concerned with it. For the record I enjoyed Halo 1 on PC (esp mp) so I'd be much more interested if it was xp compat.
There's no doubt that Halo 2 will be *cracked* to work with XP... However I highly doubt you'll be able to play on legit multiplayers if you use that method, you'd be stuck with the SP mode. My guess is Microsoft is going to take Steams example for piracy protection... You will be forced to launch the Live service to even play Halo 2 SP, not to mention authenticate the game. I'm sure there will be cracked servers for people to play on, but I doubt too many *legit* customers would want to be reduced down to that. Plus cracked servers tend to attract cheaters, so it will probably get pretty ugly....

Well Im Canadian, and I guess it is the way I buy my operating systems. Get the best and never ever upgrade.
